Long Lost Dreams...

Most ppl have deep desires…things they’ve always wanted to do in their lives. Maybe money, life, family, kids or whatever has made them change their paths and not follow their desires. Maybe some ppl dream of being deep-sea divers, Indiana Jones types, space explorers, famous ballet dancers, anything.
For me, I’ve always dreamed of being an underwater explorer. I’d love to explore shipwrecks and underwater caves. I would probably like to explore just as much on dry land but since I’ve always been drawn to water I know I’d love that. I occasionally look up pics of underwater exploring and dream of what it would be like to be there doing it. I don’t ever see it happening though…it’s just not a path I chose in life.
What would your greatest ambition be if you had no obstacles and money was no issue? Do you ever see yourself doing it?

Hi twoey-my dream was to be a singer I was for a while in a choir and did solo's but that fell apart and I left that the other thing I have always been really interested in is foresic science and archeology...they both fascinate me but can't see that happening now as my path has led me in a totally differnt direction..littleowl

I thought about that and it probably would be kind of fun to explore like they do in the Mummy movies but I don't think I'd want to deal with the bugs, spiders and snakes...LOL
Besides I love the water too much...give me a sunken ship and I'd spend weeks poking at it.

If I could, I would start a banner/dance ministry. I had a friend who had one, but now all she does is banners because she is battling an illness that is preventing her from dancing. But to do something like this, it would take a lot of money to start off with, banners can cost up to 200-300 dollars to make and then you got to have people interested in buying and you do that by traveling to different conferences to sell, like crafters do except they go from one fair to another to sell their things, or they have an open house where they sell their things in their home..Then with the dancing, you have to call different churches or festival communities to ask about if they are interested in you coming in..

I've never heard of a banner company but it sounds kind of fun. My Grandma worked and taught a ballet company when she was young...my Mom was just a little girl at the time. My Grandma performed at several theaters in Michigan in Detroit back in the '50's. My Mom of course took lessons and just the other day she was playing around and taught my oldest brother, my youngest brother and myself how to do the 5 basic ballet moves...talk about a funny scene.

Oh that is cool, I remember a few years ago a friend teaching me some ballet moves, they were really fun and I still use some in my routine today..As for a banner company, yeah they are everywhere, it is where most of your flags with special themes are on them, so I am sure they make banners too..My friend didn't actually have a "company" but people around saw her work and loved it, and so she made banners for churches and homes and still does..she taught me some things, but I am not nearly as good as she is..
I am sharing a picture of a home banner, one that is small enough for the home that I made shortly after 9/11..This one would sell for about 40.00 - 50.00 dollars..I also made a bigger one, about 5 feet long, but I don't have a picture of that one..My friend makes all kinds of sizes as well as ones that reached 6-7 feet or more in length and she sold those for 300.00 -500.00 dollars.

Forest Ranger, age is the issue. But I can be a forest farmer, but I don't have much forest and I may have to cut what I have down to heat my house.
Actually, I'd like to be a professional gatherer. I saw where these two women go out every day and find enough wild plants for a restaurant. Walking every day, seeing all the animals, picking plants, looking up plants, IDing them, finding other uses for them. I do it as a hobby now, small woods, small fields, small swamps. I'd love to do it for a living. I'd need about a hundred acres to do it justice, I only have 10 and a lot of that has buidings and junk on it. I think my dream could still come true when I retire.

That sounds really interesting. Could you imagine if you got the chance to go into a completely untouched by humans forest? You'd be there for months collecting all kinds plants and such. I seem to remember a movie something along those lines where a guy something like your describing went into a forest in Brazil where no humans had ever went...he smoked a tree (sprayed smoke on the tree) and down came all kinds of butterflies, spiders, flowers, leaves, ect...it was really neat. Even if you didn't do the whole bugs and spiders it would still be neat to do. I hope you get to reach your dream.

Gee, at my age there are a lot of unfulfilled dreams. Which one would I pick as the most important? Hmmmm. I'll have a smoke and a sip of coffee while I think about that.
It's a difficult question because what I dreamed of at 20 had become unimportant by 40, at 30 by 50, and so on. My dream at 50 would probably be the relevant one now, and I can't seem to remember what it was lol. Yes I can, it came back,. and it soooo unimportant now lol.
My mind keeps coming back to the dream of reaching old age in a stable, long-term, loving relationship. May not sound very exciting, but I have been unsuccessfully married 4 times and have had another 6 or 7 unsuccessful de facto relationships. Let us not lose sight of the fact that the failure of my dream can mostly be laid fairly at my own door. Well, with some help from my exes lol.
My current relationship is so far the longest I have had, and shows every sign of seeing me out. She'll almost certainly bury me, so I have some hope that my dream may yet come true.

Mine would be teaching. It's what I have always wanted to do and be. I do have obsticals and money is an issue, but I am following my dream and am determined to see it happen. It's taken me a while to get here and I have three more years to go before it's a reality. But I am going to make sure it becomes a reality.

I had so many ideas when I was a kid but I was always told women dont do that or you cant make money at that. If I could now I would like to do several different things. I liked marine biology and archeology so I would like to explore those. I loved airplanes so I would like to be an airline pilot. And I always enjoyed acting in theater. I have done some little theater and there is nothing like the feeling of being able to instantly move an audience.

I think on my part, I'd be traveling. I like to go to those places where there is history, most of which I guess would be in the ruins or at museums. I've always been fascinated with the castles and am quite curious how the 'olden times' where lived. So I guess, if ever I did have the chance, I'd do that.
I'm still young right now, so I guess with proper planning and work, plus guidance from Above, I'd get to achieve it.
It's nice though having a venue to share dreams with. Thanks for the topic!

I've also always wished I could travel back to the Victorian days...it would be so fun to see how things were done. Pioneer time would also be interesting. Some of those old castles would be alot of fun to see how ppl lived in them.

I would love to travel and meet people from all over the world. I guess I'm doing that, in a way. myLot provides me with people from all over the globe that share their photos with me and teach me a lot. But I'd really like to physically travel, I though I might be able to do that after my divorce but it's really not working out that way. I guess God provides an outlet for our dreams but sometimes not what we envisioned!

When I win the lottery, I plan on buying a mountain top, building a nice home , & living in peace & tranquility. I'll have a nice screened in porch completely surrounding the house. with a chimnea on every side. That way I can sit outside breathing fresh air, enjoyin nature & myLotting in peace & quiet. I plan on having about 20 Doberman Pincers to keep the intruders from disturbing my peace. I'll have a gated drive so my friends can come join me without the interruptions of the outside world. Best part is I can find this utopia about within about a 1 hour drive from my current home so I can still visit with friends & family when I need to. Oh yes, I'll have some young stud to drive my car & fan me while I'm sitting on the porch!!!

I'd like to go to a remote and poor area and do volunteer work. I want to be able to start a school for the children in that community and also start other activities that will help both the women and men in that area have better lives.

I often wonder what makes other ppl tick...I don't know how I'd like looking that deeply into their minds though considering some of the twisted ppl out in the world. I hope you reach your dream and have fun with it.

money and health have prevented me from fulfilling my dreams, I wanted to be a working psychologist, I have the degree but can't work because no money to get started and now my health is finished. Now my dream is my writing, I have two books published but still would love to have a new york times best seller but no money to promote my books and I just can't sit down and write books, because no money comes in and I need to make money so I spend my time freelancing.

My mom always told me to follow my dreams.... and now since shes gone I have been thinking about what she said a lot for the past couple of years. My dreams are to run my own business and write a book and hopefully I will see them through by the end of the year... All I can do is try. Its never too late to follow your dreams... :-)

hi twoey 68 I would love to see myself as a published
author instead of a frustrated writer with rejection
slips by the dozen. that would be so thrilling but I
cannot see myself doing it, so maybe I am just lazy
but would love to sell something, anything/
