America Can Survive

Today, Oct.1 2008, another bailout proposal will be discussed in our White House. This is not a subject that I see as being worth all the media time that it's getting. Instead of bailing out, let's bail in and bring jobs back to America. Why is it that we are buying from other countries when we can produce everything we need right here? Is it possible that we sent the plants that pollute the air to other countries for a health reason and now have limited jobs here? Since my home town once had furniture factories in it, the difference in the air is very obvious. So is the poverty level created when all of those jobs went away... Maybe we need to think this situation out from another point of view. Either we have jobs here or the amount of people paying in taxes will diminish. Hmmm, are we not about to borrow against our tax money with this bailout? Where will money come from without jobs? All of us haven't made a profit that we can sit back and live off of like some of our government officials have. Is someone living in a dream world where all the work is done elsewhere and a profit will be made that allows all Americans to survive? Are those other countries going to put tax dollars into our economy? NOPE! A study showed me that America can grow or raise every food product it needs. Why should we be importing anything when we can do it here? As an American, wouldn't you rather have a job that could support you? Are you willing to stop some reckless spending and stand up for our rights? This foreign trade is taking a big bite out of our pocket and needs to stop. Our Founding Fathers would be so PROUD of us if we started putting AMERICA FIRST!

You bring out some very good points. It's good to see someone else that are thinking for themselves. We should cut imports for several reasons. First and most dangerous is the fact that importing makes us to depend on someone else for the things we need. You cannot do this without giving the people that supply you at least some control over you. This oil thing is a good example of how this works. The more things you can produce for yourself of the things you consume the more secure you are. This appli3es to our families as well as it does to this nation. The American People need to be producing the consumer goods inside our own borders and concentrating on exporting as much as possible. People argue that items made in the US are priced too high. If that is really the case then we need to adjust some prices and then freeze the prices to control greed. Anything as important to the American People as a healthy economy must be regulated to control what it does. We are just letting our economy run where ever it wants to and do what ever it wants to, sorta like a lot of people are raising their kids. This is causing all of us very serious problems and should be stopped. I agree. Put America and her people first

PS: I don't know if you are old enough to remember WWII but I was. In the late 30's and early 40's there were some of the imported items we could not get in this country. Hitler was sinking anything that floated that didn't belong to Germany. The imported goods were sunk before they could get to us. Most of the things we couldn't get we could have grown ourselves if we have just done it. Like you I don't think there is anything that we can't grow or make in this country. Some people went into the business of making substitutes for some of the things we couldn't import. Things like black pepper, sugar, vanilla extract, coffee and some other things. We ran out of rubber so there were no new car tires. My point is all of this could have been prevented if we had only been thinking of the American People and their well being. The sad part is we are still in the same boat as if this taught us nothing.

Sadly, history WILL repeat itself if we do not learn the lessons it tries to teach us, and it seems that our politicians have learned absolutely NOTHING!

Exactly correct. If you and I are having a problem we should try to fix it where it will never cause a problem again. If we can't do that then we must get completely rid of what ever it is or the problem will just keep coming back to cause problems later. The government works on the very same principal of our personal lives except just on a larger scale. If this credit system can't be fixed and regulated where it won't cause this problem again then we need to get completely rid of it. Propping it up with the $700B is not the answer. It might clip the top off it for a little while but like your lawn it will grow back. We must get down and kill out the root of these problems.

Rocky, Can we, will we? We need our politicans to think this way too and for it to be done from the bottom of our government to the very top. There is so much waste of our tax money being spent on "government jobs" that aren't needed. Why do we pay X presidents? One single Computer can do the job of amost every secretary in any given office... wow, think of the tax money saved by not having them in government offices...

WOW! Very well said. And I must say that I agree with you 100%. I really don't think that we should be spending $700 billion dollars to bail them out for their mistakes. Let them learn their lesson, let the market repair itself and move on. I have read numerous articles that claim if they don't bail them out we will be in another depression just as bad - or maybe worse - as the one in the 1930's. They say that it got that bad because of bad policies and the fact that they did not bail them out. HOWEVER, nowhere have I seen mention of the possibility that it could have been much worse if a similar bailout plan was put in place back then. Inflation could be a much worse enemy in an already hard to afford world. The cost of food, gas, and living expenses climes daily. Now how, I wonder, do they think that giving these big organizations this much money to bail them out from their mistakes is going to help us with things like gas expenses and groceries? I have a very bad feeling about this and really hope they do not bail them out. We need to look at this from "outside the box" and try to figure out how to help the general population of America get back on its feet, instead of trying to save these big companies. There are many ways they could improve our economy just by helping to lower the cost of living, bringing in more jobs, etc. There HAS TO BE A BETTER WAY than this ridiculous bail out plan!

mehale! EXACTLY right! I've read and heard far too much about this bailout to think that anyone with any sense would consider it. Doesn't the "common man" pay for his mistakes? Let theses them do the same and certainly NOT with our tax money. Great comments!
