Today is the national holiday in india, we celebrate the Birth day of the Great person Mr. Gandhiji, who has taken the steps and got the independence to our nation.. He is called the Father of the Nation. We used to celebrate his (Mr. Gandhiji's) birth day ie., the Second of October as "Gandhi Jayanthi", today is declear as a national holiday in all over india. All schools and colleges have been closed today, and all the government official has been permitted to take leave today, yes, today is the holiday for all the government department. All the public service like the postal department, Nationalised Banks and the all the government office like the collector office, VAO office, RI Office etc.. etc.. will also be closed due to the Gandhi Jayanthi. I think the Indians have come a full circle in their respect for Mahatma Gandhi. When I was young, I used to hear a lot of abuses for Gandhi's theory of showing the other cheek if hit on one. Off late people have started to realize that it is not a bad policy, you can actually change a person's mind and attitude with it. Also, I think the movie "Lage Raho Munna Bhai" was an ultimate tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. So let's start Gandhigiri now. Cheers! Ram

Yes, it is really... 'Ganghi Jayanti'! A genuine holiday for the Government establishments in my country. Hope, the thought and message of Gandhiji will reach everybody! Thanks for this nice discussion!
