Tatoos and Piercings

Has anyone noticed how almost everyone nowadays one has at least one tatoo or piercing? It use to be that tats and piercings were the minority and "clean skin" was the majority. This seems to have totally flip-flopped. I personally love tatoos and piercings. I got my first tatoo and tongue ring when i was 15. I now have several piercings; i would get more stuff pierced (my nose and/or a marylin monroe) but my profession prohibits it. I am definitely going to be getting a few more tats; i just need to sketch out a few design ideas. What are your thoughts or opinions about the growing tatoo/ piercing trend. Is it just a trend that will slowly begin to fade? OR is it a permenent cultural change influenced by all the new reality television shows ie. Miami Ink and LA Ink, etc? People once got tats and piercings to be different; what are the reasons people are getting them now? Is it to be different? OR is it to be the same? OR is it just because people have always truly liked and wanted them but were afraid of the social stigmas that accompanied them in the past?

I must say I agree with you, nowadays it seems like everyone has either a piercing or a tattoo. I think that the taboo that used to be about these things are broken. So that is why more people dare to express theirselves and how they want to look with a tattoo. I am one of those people, I got my first tattoo when I was 14 and now I am 26 and have 15 in total and more coming soon. My husband bought his own tattoo machine and is really good at it.
