Noisy Laptop Fan

Hi all! I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FJ1S (bought it in 2005) and my problem is it has a very noisy fan. I tried cleaning it by using a vacuum cleaner on the laptop perforation (where the fan is located) but I know it won't help much unless I open it (which, I would not like to do). Can you think of any way to at least minimize the noise?

Hi.I am planning to do that but not in the immediate future. My main concern is to halt the noise of my laptop fan. It's really very annoying. Other than that, it's working fine.

I guess you have to have it check with their service centers to have it fixed. Fans are not supposed to be noisy and they should never even be heard at all. I think it would just needed to be cleaned or it might just be some loose screws that need tightening.

Perhaps take it in to a shop and have the fan replaced? I had to replace one fan on my old desktop because it was so noisy it gave me a headache. I installed a quiet running fan instead.
