When did you learn that Santa Claus isn't real?

Since Christmas is just around the corner I would like to share my most embarrassing experience about believing in Sta Claus. I've always thought that Sta. Claus is real until I reached 6th grade. Yes I know! It took me that long to realize that none of it was true. Here's the story: I belong to a popular group in grade school and everyone tries to copy me. The accessories I wear, the shoes. People love me! And then friends started discussing about Sta. Claus. My parents made me believe that when you did well the whole year Santa would reward you. I was so proud to tell everyone what I got the last Christmas before that particular conversation. Everyone laughed at me. And they kept on laughing so hard that I felt bad. They then asked me if I was serious and I said yes. They laughed even more. Then one concerned friend told me the reason why they are laughing. It was really embarrassing and I had to confront my parents after school. After that incident, I didn't have the courage to face the whole school but luckily no one has uttered any word about this. So guys, what about you? When did you learn that Santa Claus isn't real?

I agree! It's better that they know the truth than to be living a lie.

LOL! Your parents must've felt guilty about what happened. When I was a kid, my grandma would tell me about this Santa Claus and that we should hang our Christmas socks so Santa could put in goodies there. True enough, me and my brother would find money, candies and chocolates in our Christmas socks the following morning. But I have always doubted Santa's existence. I remember staying up until 5am (without my parents and grandparents knowing) because to me there couldn't be a real Santa. And since I hadn't seen any bearded man visiting our house to put in goodies to our socks, I figured he really doesn't exist. Not so many days after that, I was in my grandma's room and saw the same candies and chocolates I found in my Christmas socks, stuffed in her drawer. So I told everyone that it is Grandma who plays Santa after all. They just laughed and told me, "All right, just don't tell your brother about what you now know." Hehe.

Very clever! I wish I was as skeptic as you are but being gullible that I am, I don't think I could easily change. Pathetic isn't it? I would need to undergo some embarrassment before knowing that Santa Claus isn't real.
