iTunes abusing its dominant position?

Story here: http://tinyurl.com/3vjje3 Is iTune's too concerned about making big profits, unfairly at the expense of its customers? Or is this fair enough? Is iTunes is merely trying to protect its business interests so that it can continue to deliver a good level of service to its customers in the future?

I don't use iTunes, but am I surprised no. Even though my husband has an ipod he uses realplayer. I think it's because he was more used to it than iTunes and iTunes just wasn't easy for him since he was already comfortable with realplayer. I would be surprised if they didn't pass the cost onto the customer, also it's expensive to download at a dollar per song. Although,if you didn't want the whole album, it is the way to go. Realplayer is a dollar a song too, but my husband likes all his old music anyways and once in a blue moon will buy a cd.

Does Realplayer work with the ipod? Can you download from it in .aac? Or will the ipod play other formats now?
