People often equate money with happiness. Some will sacrifice health and family life in order to achieve it. Do you think money is the answer to happiness?

I believe that money is the root to MORE happiness not happiness. If you are happy in your current state, money just increases the happiness-- if you are looking to go travel to fantasic destinations, eat well, boat, vacation, spoil your child (all though your child may never find happiness:)) and well make all your dreams come true. I also think that if you have money and then lose it, but find it again-- well you will be the most happy ever!! You never know what you have until you lose it. If you are not a happy person, I do not believe that money will fix that.

You know the happiest country in the world is Denmark. It's true without money happiness doesn't exist. You 'll be happy only if you have some purpose in life means you must have a purpose to become a rich person. Suppose you have all the money dat you always wanted then what would you do with that if there is nobody to share. Never lose your family, health friends e.t.c. If I had Rolls royce and there is nobody to see it, then how 'll i become a happy man. Eventually we'll die only the happiest moments go with us, money won't go with us. Cheers...

Money does not make people happy. It can make life easier and less of a struggle and this can make people happier. I have sacrificed my health at times for my family's happiness, it ws worth it to do so at the time.

Great responses! Everyone seem to agree that money is needed for daily living but will not of itself bring happiness. Then why is it the main concern in the world today, why do people seek after it more than anything else?

Hi It depends on the person's way of thinking. In my opinion money can not bring happiness to a person's life. Money can bring some materials and some short term happiness. I think it is foolish to sacrifice one's health and family life to aquire money. Materialistic gain should not be the main objective of our life. Offcourse we need money to live, to acquire facilities and to increase the standard of living. But it should not be the only thing that brings joy and happiness. In addition to wealth one needs health and healthy relations to make oneself happy.

I think too much money can make a person want even more and they get greedy. Then they don't care about anything else and just want more and more money. We have to have money to live but I don't think we have to have it to be happy. It just makes people miserable and greedy.

I agree with both comments! So would you say money, or the love of it is the problem? Which?

This ones easy I really couldn't have more of an opinion on this. I strongly believe money isn't the answer to happiness...however I am of the opinion that it can secure your life and make living a little less uncomfortable. Family and friends in my opinion are the most important things in life.

i thought i would make me happy but found the sad truth that money cannot buy happiness ever...when i didn't have lots of money i eat 3 times a day...i enjoy lots of time..my life is nothing complicated just that it am going short sometimes for my own needs but when i started making money my life got so much complicated than i ever thought it could be...having less time for myself and my bf because i work my days full time...i hardly eat i skip meals due to busy schedule...i have money but cannot buy the things i need no time...even got fooled because of money...people keep on coming to ask for help upon financial things then the next thing you knew their gone...people make friends because of money and I'm not happy

No,money isn't the key to happiness. In some cases,it's more like an addiction.People can have money, but they don't have any real friends or lovers.

Money in a hand. - This is a photo of some cash in one's hand.
Money is something that I believe is very important to surviving in life but isn't always needed for one's happiness. Plenty of great things in life are free. It is true that some people will do just about anything for the money and even some people are not satisfied fully with a bundle of cash. There is nothing that can really take the place of true happiness. We need our health and our family and the rest will hopefully take care of itself.

Money undoubtedly is a great mean for a piece of mind, but in no way can buy happiness. I think Happiness is an attitude that anybody can acquire when all the ingredients are in place that's the reason it's impossible to be "ALWAYS HAPPY". One can find Happiness in a good Marriage or having loving kids, or having the desire Job, or, or, or... As many or's as your imagination can desires. I find sad that someone get mistaken thinking money=happiness. Now money definitely helps you ENJOY HAPPINESS, no doubt about it!

Not really. Money will not give all happiness. but Money will give some sort of happpiness. Very few people are there who has both money as well as happiness. On a whole i can say money is not the only happiness. There is a saying "too much is too bad". we are not try for too much, we are trying to be better financially.

If were to compare money vs happiness. I would said yes, lots of money can make a person happy. So far i didn't see people that have money is crying but those without or short of money, they argue everyday at home and is not happy. Of course, if to compare sacrifice health to gain money, that's not a good method as the payment is even more if the health is get into serious situation. So that's where work life balance is so important nowadays. Health is the one money can't buy.
