So the more controversy, the more responses?

So I post discussions, and usually I get maybe 3 or 4 responses, usually lower numbers. Well know I've had up to 8 responses, and a long going comment discussion on things, and I am floored! Because it's a very controversial subject, and then what I try to do fun things, no one really responds. So people just WANT to have controversy and not just share fun times? Is this the trick to getting responses on mylot?

you hit the nail on the head..!! that seems that way most of the time here. you could even visit mine and you'll find out the same, it's just i didn't post some controversial discussions but a few good discussion won't attract responders to drop by and make a mark.

Thank you!!! By the way I enjoy your mylot icon. I used to play that trick on people all the time in help forums. Sort of malicious but hey, I was a kid! Thank you for agreeing with me I am certainly glad that I am not alone!

Yes topic that are controversial makes people interested to share there views. My hubby also advise me to think of something controversial to invite more people to response. But personally i dont post topic to invite more people to share there views.I usually post topic that i think is interesting. So far there is only two topics i had that only had few response.

I am the SAME way, in fact, most of the time all I do are replies. replies are what I like to do, and since I hate never having replies, I usually always go to the topics with no replies, go back a few pages, and then reply from there, HAHA. To make sure everyone atleast gets ONE response!

I can understand what you are saying here. It does seem that the more controversial postings can warrant some more quality responses perhaps. It is just something that has a way of stirring the pot so to speak. Sometimes the fun ones can get responses but if there is a certain topic on the table and a lot of people have a strong opinion then you are in for a lot of replies. I can't say for sure but maybe you are right about a trick for receiving more responses here.

Thank you! I wish it didn't have to be that way though, I wish responses about favorite music and movies and shows would be getting a lot of responses as well, but they just simply don't. Not for me atleast. MAybe I just need to build up a mylot reputation, haha!
