HI ALL! I had just found out that one of the victims was a good friend of my younger daughter. It was very difficult to talk to her about the incident. She is still in shock over it. She kept on asking why did this have to happen-I couldn't come up with a good explanation. She is 18 and I tried to explain to her that I don't know why her friend's life was cut so short. Have you ever tried to explain something so tragic to your children, regardless of their age? It is tough to do. The funeral for her friend is two days away and it will be tough to go to.

Yes it can be difficult for anybody not to mention she is only 18. My aunt had to explain to her kids, age 1yr, 4 yr and 8 yrs why their daddy was not coming home anymore. My uncle was murdered and it was horrible. but thankfully these kids came around ok with the help of all of us. Now they are all college and doing well emotionally. My aunt was a strong women. Explain to your daughter that sometimes people are at the wrong place at the wrong time and things happen. This is why it is important to always let an adult know where you are going. Good luck
