i know that today a lot of us won't talk to people that we meet maybe in the grocery store and some do that because they think that its a little dangerous because of how some people act in todays world...but when i am in a grocery store or something and someone says something to me or i am standing in line sometimes i will be like hey how are you, or something just to make conversation and be nice and to pass time where i don't have to stand there all quiet all of the time, but i was just wondering about all of you, do you talk to people in grocery stores? thanks for taking the time out of your day to stop by and read and review my discussion and hopefully answer, i hope that you all had a great day and that you have a great and safe night tonight, once again thanks for taking the time to come by!

I would definitely like to try that but I have to admit, it's something I find quite difficult. I guess it's easier when you finally arrive at the checkout! It's far easier to have a chat with the person at checkout. There are many paranoid thoughts regarding chatting to someone in a grocery store, I get them myself! Thoughts about the person probably being a little crazy or how they might bite your head off just for saying hello! You just don't know who you are going to meet in today's environment. Anyway, I would love to muster the courage to try and do this as it seems quite interesting. Andrew

It depends on person to person and we can't start directly talking with a stranger in grocery stores.Everyone is busy selecting their items. For me until someone ask something or start talking i never talk with people inside the grocery store.

I do but not very often, depending on my mood too.

I smile and talk to people all over the place. Its funny though, but I do so more now that I live in a small town. When I lived in the city people never looked at each other or talked to each other. But in small towns I've noticed that many of us do. I can't wait to go to the city for a visit and try out talking to strangers again. LOL I'll probably freak them out by doing so.

I actually talk to people in the grocery if they asked something or greet me. I never think that it is dangerous to talk as long as i dont have a bad vibes about the person. If the person looks suspicious thats the time i keep my distance.

Yes, I do. I love befriending people, I love chatting and sometimes its so refreshing too. I mean we all have our own problems and drawbacks in life and we just keep on pondering over them. Its always ‘me & my family…’ so for a change its really refreshing to know others’ problems, their joys and sorrows and find strengths from there. I get so many new ideas of how to deal with situations and it definitely makes me feel more secure.

I do ask in any case that I need help but beyond asking, no, I am not interested in making friends with anyone in the grocery. That would make me ridiculous, or even, suspecting.

i am guilty of that heheheh too. I like talking to people ( im in sales) that is my passion . I like their ideas and opinion about the stores or the brands that they bought. In it relaxes me somehow rather than like you said just standing their in the line not taking .

Hi there jhl930 I would never just strike up a conversation with someone there would have to be reason for it but I don't have a problem with talking to people in the supermarket at all.

I sometimes talk to strangers in grocery stores. Most times, it's because they ask the first question and sometimes, I say something. But it's not one of those really long conversations. Things we talk about usually revolve around the stuff in the grocery store or what we're buying or if we're at a long line. I tend to talk more with the worker at the register.

I am a quiet sort of a person. Also I don't prefer talking to strangers anywhere unless the conversation has been started by them. I prefer smiling at them or just simply say a hello for not trying to be rude to them.

No but in applying for a job, I did talk to anyone. Maybe its because of the common aim that we are all there and besides a little sharing of experiences applying worth talking especially when some give advices.

I am a more quiet person by nature and will only smile or say hello to people when I am out. I will talk to others while standing in a long line, that is if I'm not on the phone talking with someone. But don't worry, I hang up when I get to the cashier. I don't want to be rude.

Yeah, I do sometimes but not that long. I want them to concentrate on their shopping list rather than chatting. I, too, have my own list to work on. But if the person/friend asks questions that I can relate about, well then, it'll take few minutes.
