Well, I took out a book from the library on yoga once. To mean it means a lot of funky poses that help you improve your health, body and mind. They have something to do with chakras, and while some poses would probably be embarrassing to do in public, it feels really good afterwards.

Hi Sheepie, asanas or physical poses is just one aspect of Yoga.Yoga is a means of finding ones own trueself. The initial stage include the physucal activities, then there are breathcontrol techniques, the meditation...wherein one concentrates on the brethe and slowly turns the focus inside...exploring ones true nature. It may seem complicated...but like studies done exploring the external world by sceintists,..Yoga is a result of extensive work done by rishis/spirtual people in India ,several years ago to discover ones true self.

yes, yoga is now a business tool. the father of yoga, patanjali said, "yoga means different methods to bring the senses under control". yoga is essencially to attain higher mental order. i have read a blog about the negative effects of yoga because of its rampant use. Yoga, if learned from an accomplished person, can help you to gain spiritual feelings and in that way may help you physically too.

Yoga is a way of life. I've been a Yogi for over 30 years and my 45 minutes of yoga asanas each morning, is an important beginning to every day.Yoga stretches out every muscle and lubricates each joint, to keep your body young and flexible. As Yoga tends to your body it also trains your mind. The daily practice slows the mind and allows the yogi to look within and become familiar with both the physical and the spiritual aspects of one's life.
