How long were you (or your partner) in labor with the first child?

I don't imagine many first labors are short...interested to hear about your experiences the first time you gave birth?

Everyone told me that the 1st one was suppose to be shorter than the rest. THOSE LIARS!!! I was in labor for 18 hours and then in the process they dislocated my wrist.

my son who was 2 weeks late took 32 1/2 hrs and then the sorry doctor who was too busy talking to the nurse sewed a piece of gauze up in me and I had to go back a week later and get it cut out..that was worse then the damn labor. My daughter was 1 week late and she took 17 hrs, she was sideways when I went to the hospital and almost ended up being a c-section. She decided at the last minute to make her appearance(literally, they were prepping the OR)

I doubt it and it's not the labor time that makes me not want to. My son weighed 8 1/2 lbs, my daughter was 10 lbs, if they keep getting bigger I'd die..lol..I do not want a 12 lb baby

My first labor was extremely short. I woke up that moring around 8:00 am with my back hurting. By 10:00 am I decided something wasn't right and called my doctor who told me I should go by the hospital to be checked (it was 3 weeks before my due date). By the time I found my husband and got him home and got to the hospital it was around 11:30 am. By noon I had a baby.

I'm sorry, I meant to say by 2PM I had a baby. LOL. At noon they were looking for the doctor but told me there was plenty of time since this was my first baby. They were wrong!

Well, since our daughter ended up being born by c-section due to complications, only a few hours.

Most first labors are not short, but mine was. I had my son in about 4 hours. I went from 6cm dialated to delivered in 15 minutes. Even the midwife that delivered him made a comment on how fast the delivery was for a first baby.

my daughter who is now 23, was born at 6 months, and she was my only child, and she was born in one hour and 23 minutes. Holy Cross hospital in Ft. Lauderdale said it was the fastest first time birth in 10 years. I was so thankful it was so fast. I have had menustral cramps worse than giving birth to her.

With my oldest son I was in labor for 26 1/2 hours. I had gallstones and was having a gallbladder attack while I was in labor it was not fun. With my youngest son I went into the hospital to be induced only to find out I was dilated between 3-4cm. They gave me pitocen to start contractions at 10 am and I had him at 12:51pm

I just had my baby is June and let me tell you it was nothing like I expected. All my friends had recently had babies and were only in labor for 4 hours max. So I went in thinking it would be the same for me. I mean I was active and on my feet a lot which is supposed to help. Well I ended up being in labor for 25 hours 11.5 being active labor and pushing for 45 minutes. It was the hardest thing I ever did in my life but the most rewarding that is for sure.

My labor was 32 hours. My first and ONLY child. When after all that pain and suffering they performed an emergency C-section. I begged my ob/gyn for a c-section for months because I knew the baby was big (I am only 5'2" and hubby is 6'4" - so I knew the kid was destined to be huge) he was 10lbs...
