yeah, that is true, but i'm not talking about beating them severely, but more like a light smack on the wrist. I think anything more than a light smack is bad.

That is good but only works with kids that value their privilages. Some kids don't care.

hmm, killing is a bit harsh. Maybe start with slicing off toes or something to at least give him a chance to reform his "noti" ways.

We used timeouts til they were old enough to write. Then we would make them copy from a book or write a sentence over and over for a while; that seemed to do the trick totally. They got to practice on writing and reading; they hated it so finally we could just threaten them with it and they would toe-the-mark.

That is a very good way to punish them. That is definitaly better than beating them.

What we do is we try time out first, then if that dosnt work we take something away, and if that dosnt work then we smack on the but only.

That works for some kids, as long as the aren't extremely bad. If they hate timeout enough, then it will work. Some kids don't mind timeout, or they are just so terrible that they deserve a harsher punishment. Whatever works for you is good.

No I don't smack my kid but have to admit I have been close to do it and I have threatened to. That was a long time ago though and I believe in the power of the word over violence.

Words are always good, and it works as long as your kids aren't extremely bad.

Thats easy to say now, but if you did have them you might be inclined to change your mind because kids can be horrible at times.

I dont have kids yet, but as a child my parents beta my a**. and it was for the better, i learned to respect them. I was a bad kid, yelling at me didnt help at all.

Thanks. Respect is hard to come by this day and age, and it seems like the only people who have respect are people who were beaten.

Yes, i do smacks sometime when kids disrespect, but not for small things. As i believe God is our father and mother and they do smack us when we are wrong in other ways. Its all for good
