How long do you think....

How long do you think it takes a person to mourn the loss of a close loved one? or how long do you think it takes for a person to begin to get through the mourning period....Last month was the 2nd anniversary of my pawpaws (grandpa) death. Me and him were REALLY close. To be honest, I think I've just started mourning...I mean before he even passed away I was mad that he was dying but quickly got over that. Now I'm actually starting to really mourn him...I mean I guess I never allowed myself to think of his death much bc its too painful....but now I'm allowing myself to miss him, to think of him, to allow myself to cry when I do think of him. I wonder if someone ever TRULY gets over the death of a close loved one. Part of me wonders what happens with time. Do you forget, do you stay mad, sad or what? What are your opinions?

I am so sorry to hear about your grandpa. I do not believe that you will ever forget the person you loved so dearly. It all depends on your look on life as to how long you mourn. I have lost 3 of my grandparents in one year. I lost my grandpa (my moms dad) first, it was a bit of a shock because he was not that sick, I thought we had more time with him. Then 10 months later I lost my first grandma (my moms mom) she got sick suddenly too but we were more prepared for it because she had a broken heart from losing my grandpa. Then my dads mom passed away 2 months later. I to this day am still mourning them and it has been 6 months since I lost my last grandparent. But the feelings I have are easier to deal with each month. Hang in there it will get better but it will never go away. And one day you will see him again.
