i think i would disagree and would support corporal punishment if the reason to do so is correct. kids nowadyas seem to have less respect for teachers and authorities. many reasons for this behaviour that i can think of. parents are now better off and think that they are above the society and try to behave snobbishly just because they earn slightly more than others and tend to make a fuss of everything. PArents try to interfere in the way school is managed. kids are pampered nowadays and parents seem to have the mindset that only i can spank my kid when he does wrong but did we ask ourself this question. are we teaching kid the right thing? i have seen parents allowing their child to litter in public, behave noisily in public places disturbing others but the parents do not seem to be concern about their behaviours etc. so if the parents are not teaching the kid the right behaviours, then the school should step in. in my days, we respect our teachers and have fear for them. now this is disappearing. if the school does not have the power to invoke punishment for bad behaviour or wrongdoings, i would think the school would have lost in meaning in education. education does not mean only academically but also to teach one to differentiate between what is right and wrong, how to behave properly in society etc. there is a lot more in education than we think it is.

It is not allowed in our country anymore. Any teacher who's proven to have done corporal punishment on any student will be sued.
