SLR camera

I am trying to look for good BUT economical SLR camera. I am not a professional photographer but I do like to take pictures. I have decided that I would buy an SLR camera this time so that I would have better pictures. I take pictures of different things and people so I think, an SLR camera would help me. I know an ordinary digital camera would do but I'd tried using this kind before and I am not satisfied with the result.
Now that I am looking for an SLR camera, I noticed that it is not an easy task. First because there are a lot of brands to choose from and second because I do not know much about the features of a GOOD SLR camera.
Anyone here who knows about cameras? Share your ideas with me?

I just bought myself a canon Eos SLR camera and it is great, I went a little over budget and bought an extra 200mm lens but you can get get a good SLR body and choose if you want just an ordinary lens or zoom lens, I think with an SLR a zoom lens is good, I hope you have fun choosing a good camera there are a lot od choices out there at various prices good luck, i would never look back now that i have an SLR camera,...
