haven't you noticed that most of the modern technology nowadays in the market are getting compact and flat. gone were the days where the more bulky an item/appliance is, the better. now, the television are getting flat and was even hang on the wall, the digital cameras are getting smaller, yet it works better, the computer desktop monitors are getting flat, and the laptops, getting more compact.are you getting flat and compact too with your own choices of these items, like tv, computers etc..

Oh definitely, it's great to have compact yet powerful devices! Don't you just love how the cellphones or iPods of today pack more power than the first computer, which was big enough to fill an entire room? :)
This also fits modern society's need for space and mobility. As one of the other respondents have said, everyone's on the go these days.

yes, that is definitely the case! i, for one, am glad! i think alot of that has to do with the fact that society nowadays is so much more on the go- we seem to do everything on the go and we need technology that fits in with that kind of lifestyle. cell phones need to be smaller and more compact to fit into pockets or hold in hands, laptops need to be smaller and thinner for easy carrying, etc. as for appliances and tv's and such, i think it just looks better aesthetically when things are not as big and bulky and take up so much space. after i got married and moved out, my parents found a bunch of my old things in the basement, and one of them was my first cell phone. now i am only 31 years old, but it was so funny to see how different it was then the cell phones now. it was HUGE!! lol the battery itself was bigger than my blackberry is now! :) but thank God i do not have to lug that gigantic thing around anymore! :)

I wish I had the money to upgrade to all of those things. It would be nice to have a monitor that didn't take up my whole desk, or a TV that takes up half of my very tiny living room.
I may not have much of a choice, though. I'm not having any problems with my monitor, but it is at least 8 yrs old or better, so I don't know how much longer it will be good for.
My TV still plays ok, but I do notice that the 'instant on' isn't so instant anymore. I hope that's not an indication that it will be going soon.
