MY cat is in heat. I can not bring her to the vet yet to get her fixed . Well I can but the operation can be a bit more difficult and risky, so I felt it is better to wait it out then bring her in to the vet. She has all her shots and everything , shes healthy in that respect. Is there any tips on helping her become more comfortable during her time of being in heat?

Just cuddle, hold and pet her. First heats can be very stressful, so any comfort you give is appreciated. Fortunately, most 1st heats are short in duration.

Hi , and thank you for stopping by . She has been in heat for about 4 days so far. Yeah insists on the cuddles although she does that crouch thing that is somewhat amusing and at the same time disturbing, :P . I have tried catnip , but this seems to have a reverse affect. OO

Catnip would be like giving her a couple of cups of coffee. Maybe warm milk? One of my cats went into heat younger than expected. When I held her, I could feel the nervous tension in her. We feel the same way at such times, right? As I pet her, brushed her hair, talked to her...I could feel her relax. The relaxed state helped keep the usual symptoms at bay for the duration. As soon as the heat was over, I quickly packed her off to the vet. I sure didn't want a repeat - or more kittens!

I have no idea, your poor kitty! I'm glad you're getting her spayed, that's a real kindness to her. I hope someone can tell you what to do.

hehe , yeah I try to be a good mom . She is very loved and so far healthy , from what I understand the op is easier on her also if I wait till she is out of heat, yet if she goes into multiple heats , well I do not want to put her through that. The soonest I can get her into the vet is next week . So I still have a bit of time. Hopefully there is some way I can make her feel better.

Did you talk to your vet about going ahead with the spay now, while she is in heat? Mostly they only worry about dogs being in heat, because there is much more bleeding, but cats are smaller and the bleeding isn't that bad. So my understanding is that most vets will spay a cat in heat. Also, some cats will just continue going into heat over and over, if not bred, so it can be very hard to find a time when she is not in heat to take her in. I haven't found anything, except sometimes some petting, that makes them feel better. When they are in heat, they just seem so desperate.

yeah , the vet told me I could take her in, yet it costs a bit more. She so desperate poor little thing. She is so small and just meows meows meows. She does not bother me and I have went through many cats that have been in heat so it is nothing new. I was hoping maybe there might be a way to help her. Thank you so much for your help. :D

You might try one of the Bach Flower recipes to relax her. Be very sure she doesn't get out by mistake. Poor little girl. I hope you can get her in soon. Thank you for getting her spayed. She will be much happier.

I am not a vet but i have to wonder why you waited so long My only suggestion is to comfort her and you just have to weather this out until she is healthy and able to fixed Good Luck Have a Great day
