Is It Unusual For the VP Pick to be out of the loop?

Since I have never ran for president or been the VP pick either (I'm not old enough yet and besides you all would not want someone like me to be president) I really do not know this answer.
Are the VP candidates so out of the loop? Do they usually know what's going on with the rest of the campaign or are they just told what to do and say? I'm not asking about something list, "last week your running mate Jimmy Doe said after elected the shutters on the White House would be blue, what do you think about that?" I mean I thought it was odd that Palin did not know that the McCain/Palin ticket was pulling out of Michigan. I didn't hear all of the interview, it was on FOX and I flipped to FOX to see what the DOW was doing because noone else had it on and, she was being interviewed. I'm not even sure if FOX was the one doing the interview.
Do you think it's a good idea to keep the VP candidate out of the loop? The people that are not die harders are less impressed every day with Palin so shouldn't she really know stuff like this so that we get the idea that she is not there just because her gender? I find it all very odd. Any thoughts?

The answer to your question is NO. I have never seen a VP so out of the loop, and then so defiant of a decision made by the campaign in my lifetime. But, Sarah Palin is different, she is the first VP selection that thinks that she is on the top of the ticket. I think it is a good idea to keep her out the loop because she is so complete lost on the national stage, she might make a mistake and start world war three with that country she can see from her house. This women makes Dan Quayle look like a great choice.

Potatoe Potato what's the difference? lmao I've heard her say the Palin/McCain ticket an awful lot of times before McCain told her that she was the bottom half of the ticket.

This is just my personal opinion but I would think that the V.P. candidate normally would be informed about something as significant as pulling out of an important state. I read that Palin publically disagreed with McCain's desision and said that she "fired off an email to him" suggesting that she and Todd would be happy to go to the state and walk through some factories, meeting and talking to people. I wonder how McCain felt about that?

I wonder as well. But, have you noticed those two, McCain and Palin, together? He follows her like she is the top of the ticket. It really makes me wonder what he is thinking, he keeps her in the dark but then when in public he acts like she's the top dog. Oh gawd no lipstick jokes please! Do you think die hard conservatives are blinded by party lines or Palin or simply both? I just can't see how they still defend her. If this was Obama or Biden that had turned into whackos I would have to decide not to vote this year and I couldn't defend that idiocy.

Sometimes people needed to be briefed. Maybe Palin's staff is not up to par or she couldn't attend meetings. Regardless of the reasons a VP candidate needs to know what is going on in the campaign as well as planned changes if elected.
It is a sloppy campaign. If I were to run my company like some campaigns it would cease to exist.

Yes it would. She talks in circles and sometimes avoids the topic all together. I am still not sure who will get my vote. It is going to be a mess regardless of who wins.

Maybe the October surprise is that Palin has been an act and that she is really smart, then you can vote for her. lol
You could always just throw darts until you hit one and that will be who you are voting for lol

LOL finally! We agree! Sorry cool we don't always agree and it really came as a shock.
Would you answer this, because I know that you are not an Obama supporter, well unless you changed. But, do you think it would give undecided voters a better image of Palin if she knew these small details?

I thought that was a telling little piece of information. The fact that he could do something that dramatic this close to the election and Palin not even be told tells you what he really thinks of her. He picked her for her female parts; not her experience or her politics. I don't know about you, but I laughed out loud when I heard this on the news. I almost felt sorry for her for about 15 seconds. Wow.

I thought the same thing but then I had to stop and think because honestly I hadn't really paid attention to VP picks before but after this current one Dyck I like to pay more attention. I liked that, Todd and I would go walk around the auto plants and spread the word lol I wonder if she knows they are on shut down until the end of October.

No it is not normal. Usually the VP on the ticket would be well informed and part of strategy. Normally the "ticket" would be on the same page and well informed of each others movements and of each others communications. Normally they would be well suited.
These two are so uninformed and unaware as to simply be fodder for comedy. It is funny in a sick and scary way.
No it is not a good idea to keep her this far out of the loop unless McCain wants to lose.

It just seems so odd to me. I know if I were in Palin position I would feel used since it would appear to me that she is only there due to body parts. I'm not a McCain supporter but, from what I have seen he acts like he will do whatever it takes to win the election.

You always need some humour in politics. People from out of the loop do bring in a lot of controversy and hence humour so it is ok. How serious a challenge they can pose is a different matter.

Oh I really agree. If politics are serious then we would be in trouble since all politicans are a big joke.

I find it very strange as well. Of course, she said herself in the debate that she's an "outsider"; I guess even SHE doesn't know how much of an outsider.
I wanted to add that considering some of this year's crop I wouldn't worry one bit about you being V.P or even President!

As I was responding above I was thinking about it and realized they just announced last week on our news that the auto plants were going on an extended shut down this month due to falling sales. So instead of being shut down for a few weeks they are shut down the entire month.
I'm sad because I have 2 years until I can be president. But, I don't use run on's while speaking and I do actually have a clearer knowledge of world events than she does. Oh and I forgot I actually read the news. lol

I have a friend with a Masters in Political Science who says he has a gut feeling they're doing it deliberately so they can accuse the opposition of being sexist for pointing out all the things she doesn't know. He doesn't agree with them if they are, but he's afraid that might be it.
The worse case scenario is that THEY are being sexist themselves and leaving her out because they believe she won't get it or will say too much.

It sounds like a great conclusion to me. I think the McCain camp is being very sexiest over her. I mean she's on the ticket but not allow to give interviews unless they are with "kitten" reporters or on FOX. It's all very annoying.

I think she didn't know because they kept her locked up studying for the debate so she could make sentences even if each of her answers was just one long run-on, dontcha know. Also, she should have cleared it with her campaign before she went public though. I wonder how McCain feels about that.
I'm really glad they pulled out of Michigan. They should pull out of a few more states, dontcha know.

lol mcat I'm waiting for them to pull out of a few more as well. She probably wants to save Michigan because she could see Michigan from Dayton when she was announced as VP pick and she has a special bond with the state.

Do you think that I could be VP of mylot? The vice presidents here typically do not do anything unless the president is killed but in the last 30 years we have had some real losers with that said I would not want the stigma of being VP of the United States lol

Don't have the stigma of being the VP of the US, Have the joy of running for the VP of the US. There is a personinIndia who has filed his nomination to contest the Presidential elections a record 9 times. He has reached no where in the elections, but he has become very popular. Cheers to your nomination!!!

LOL We had a mayor that ran for office over 20 years before he was finally elected. I guess the more you see someone the better they look.
