A Moral Dilemma for a Kid

When a was a teenager, I saw my stepfather (whom I detested) pick up another woman, in his car, from her home a mile or so away from our house. I followed them at a distance on my motorcycle until they parked and went into a pub (bar). As soon as I got home, I called my mother and told her what I'd seen. She was upset by this - of course. Was that the right thing to do? Or, should I have been more mature and discreetly witheld this information from my mother?

What a jerk! I think it was great of you to rat him out, think of it this way, he was going to get away with it! Nobody treats your mom like that and gets away with it! Of course she was upset, but it's better that she heard it from you instead of found a g-string in his pocket.

That's quite re-assuring to hear - thanks for that. You sound like a really decent person. GTG

GTG I think it was very brave of you to tell your Mother. She had a right to know and may have never found out had it not been for you. Besides you needed her to know. This is not the kind of thing a child should have to keep secret, especially from their Mother. You both deserved better than that. leenie
