Overheating problems..

Hey, My computer is kind of old around 2004. Although I'll keep it for longer since it's a modified computer, I use it for online gaming so it's pretty powerful. Whenever I start FF or IE the computer starts overheating and the room I'm in gets hot really fast! I'm not so into buying a fan or even what type too buy, If I have to get one I will. Is their a program/software that can somehow stop the overheating problem, Or do I have to buy a fan? If so, what model?

Dust is the main cause of overheat if there is no component problem in ur computer. First you need to clean your pc and remove all the dust in it. Mainly from the fans and the dust over the motherboard. Now you need to remove the existing thermal grease over the cpu and apply a new one. (Ask for help from your techie friends) Now the software to controll the speed of the fan, http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php This software will help you set the fan to the required speed according to the temperature of cpu. Hope this helps. happy mylotting

Tell your experience after doing this and choose the correct cpu thermal grease and if you are able to get it from a computer shop (they may have extra tubes available which comes along with the processor). I got it from there and for free. ask me if you need any further helps.

I agree. Dust is the main cause of overheating and these solutions are effective. It's the first thing I check when I repair 'overheating' problems, then the fan speed control.

Hi infinyT.. you could try with CPUCool.. I have been using it for years and it keeps my computer very cool... But always you should keep your processor cool because I been using my job's computer for about 5 months and after the cooler broke, the processor almost burnt and no matter what kind of cooler I put into it, the performance of the machine is a disaster..

Could need a fan or it could be something else - like your power supply not being powerful enough to handle everything in your PC.

Hey its silly thing to say but firstly check out whether ur system fan is working perfectly or not. Bcoz one of my frnd also suffered with the same problem. But the final error camed out is the connection to the fan is lost.. if not check out or MODEM or else the problem might be in ur LAN card..

If the computer is over heating, in all probability the fan inside the computer is not working. have it changed and it should not over heat.

Well, if your computer is having overheating problems, try taking apart the casing of the tower and take a can of compressed air and clean it. If there's not enough ventilation to the computer, dust will collect and the fan inside the tower won't have enough room to rotate. Also, buying a small desktop fan and pointing it to the computer tower will allow the computer to get enough air.

I would try upgrading a memory, and you will probably notice that the harddrive does produce a lot of heat too, because the disk is constantly rotating at like... 7200 rpm, which is usual. Personally, I really don't like harddrives made by western digital; they tend to make ton of noise, and they do get hot very quickly. I can also suggest you to get some memory coolers, and you can buy them from one of those electronic stores like microcenter, bestbuy, circuitcity, compusa, you name it. And I have never heard of the softwares that controls the overheating problem, but I guess you can just try one of those programs that the responders suggested. There is also another thing that cools down the computer, which it uses the water to cool down the computer. I have seen one of those in microcenter and other electronic stores, but I really haven't used it. It doesn't hurt to give it a try, does it? Well, hope that helps. Happy mylotting :)

i think the most easy solution to the problem may be servicing your computer.remove the dust from your computer and reassemble the motherboard of your computer.also provide a good ventilation to the cpu.
