I was just thinking about all the cash we spend and where is goes. Have you ever figured out how much you spend on food in a year. We spend $240 a month on grocery shopping, which isnt all food but for arguments sake we will pretend. Then we spend $100 on going out to dinner. So we spend $340 a month, round it up for the holidays when we spend more or less, $350. So My family of 4 people spend $4200 a year on food. That is really a lot of money when you think about it. What do you spend a year on food?

We spend about $200 a month on us so for a year it would be $2400. but with prices so high it may be a little more than that. We rarely eat out so we don't spend much on that. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

$200 a month is getting harder and harder to do. I used to be able to have a good chunk of extra money at the end of the month at the same budget and now I am struggeling to make it by on that. Prices are definately going up faster then I can keep up with.

Family of 2 - $200 a month on groceries, $18 on eating out, so that's $2616 a year.

It seems you have it all figured out. Some people have such a hard time staying on a budget and it is surprising when you add up all the odds and ends you spend. Great job.

If you are referring to just what I spend at home then its $300 a month for two of us, which is obviously is $3,600 a year. Then, there is the little trips to 7-11 or other convenience stores, add another $50 a month and not to mention what I spend on eating at the mall while I am working. A typical lunch there is $7. So thats another $1820 a year. All together we are looking at a minimum of $6,000. WOW, I never realized. Now, there is something to think about isn't it?

It all adds up at a surprising rate. It shocked me. I know I will be thinking a bit more about it when I get to the store next time.

This is a question which I really ought to know the answer to, but I don't. For years I have been telling myself that I ought to keep a record of everyday expenses so that I actually know how much they are, but somewhere along the line I forget to add one or two to my tally and I soon abandon the idea. We do grow an awful lot of our own veg and fruit, so I would imagine that my food bill is not as high as it could be. We also have chickens for eggs and meat, though I do have to top up with bought in eggs as there's never enough.

I would love to have some chickens at home for fresh eggs. How fun. It is so easy to lose track of the little expenses in life. I was amaized how much the little expenses added up when we stopped to check them. By cutting out the little things in life we have saved a couple hundred dollars and it adds up.

Healthy food seems to cost more which is shocking when you really think about it. Healthy food needs a lot less processing and work so why does it cost so much?
