real friends

I was in the military for 22 years, and at each duty station I had what I thought was a true friend. I hung out with these guys the whole time I was stationed at these duty stations. Later after I was transfered from those duty stations, I tried to get in touch with the guys that I had spent so much time with at each of these stations. They all ignored me. Some of these guys , I considered to be closer than brothers, and they shunned me when I tried to contact them. I was diagnosed with colon cancer, and I wanted to talk to some of the guys I had spent all this time with in the service. I have determined that there is no such thing as a friend. I worked as a supervisor for a manufacturing plant after I left the service for 4 years, the people who worked with me at this plant, ignore me also. People are only friends when it benefits them in some way. I have no friends at this time, and hope I die soon to end the loneliness that has become my life.
