How do you grown long finger nails"

I have always wanted long fingernails that look like fake nails. I have never had them though. My nails always break or peel when they start to grow. Is there a vitamin or food that will make them grow without breaking and peeling. There has to be a way to grow long fingernails. I even see men that have long fingernails.
