I went to a festival this weekend, and got a hot funnel cake that was amazing. Something about the fall makes me crave these little things. I was wondering if any of the fellow mylotters had any idea as to how to actually make funnel cake? It tasts a littke like pancake batter, though I may be way off. Any help would be appreciated. :-)

We tried to do it but it just didn't taste the same. Its something about the atmosphere, toothless carnies and hairy backed aunts wandering around with 13 kids in tow, that's what makes it taste so good. My advice, just wait until the fair and enjoy it there, if you take away the reason you go to the fair then you won't go anymore.

Funnel cake is good. I tried making it with cake batter which is good also but I posted a recipe for you anyway. Hope you enjoy. INGREDENTS:1 liter canola oil 3 cups flour 1/4 cup sugar 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 3 eggs 2 cups milk 1/2 cup powdered sugar, for spinkling DIRECTIONS: Heat canola oil in deep fryer or kettle/pot to 350 degrees. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt, whisk in eggs and milk. Use 1/2 cup of batter for each funnel cake. Pour the 1/2 cup of batter through a funnel into the hot oil, moving in a circular motion as doing so to make each spiral funnel cake. Fry each spiral of funnel cake until it is golden brown, 2-3 minutes. Remove with tongs and place on a paper towel to absorb oil. Transfer to plate and sprinkle powdered sugar over the funnel cake either by hand or through a sieve. Serve/eat.

do you have a fryer? cause thats what i used to make mine in OMG they are so good if you don't ahve a fryer then i would recommend and somewhat bog pot and lots of oil. just be careful when heating it! i'm 99% sure this is the recipe i used Ingredients 1 cup water 3/4 stick butter (6 tablespoons) 1 tablespoon sugar 1/8 teaspoon salt 1 cup flour 1 cup eggs, about 4 large eggs and 2 whites Vegetable oil, for frying Powdered sugar, for topping Directions Boil water, butter, sugar, and salt together in a saucepan. Add flour and work it in until it is all incorporated and dough forms a ball. Transfer mixture to the bowl of a standing mixer and let cool for 3 to 4 minutes. With mixer lowest speed, add eggs, 1 at a time, making sure the first egg is completely incorporated before continuing. Once all eggs have been added and mixture is smooth, put dough in a piping bag fitted with a number 12 tip. Heat about 1 1/2 inches of oil in a heavy pan. Pipe dough into oil, making a free-form lattice pattern; cook until browned, flipping once. Remove cake from oil, drain on paper towels, and top with powdered sugar. Continue until all of the batter is used. they are sooooo good . have fun and enjoy them!

I've never made them, but think I have seen a funnelcake mix at the store. Good luck!
