hey guys please help me in this one question. i don't understand why olympics is given so much importance. i don't understand why people get so excited by listening the name of olympics? somebody is participating somewhere and and winning then what are we getting from that? i know its a dream of a sportsman to participate in olympics and win. what is so special about the olympics. they rank different countries according to the gold,silver,bronze medals. but can you really judge the sports power of a country by its participants winning medals? i don't understand what this olympics fuss is all about.

I guess it is the competitiveness of the sports and pride in the countries, I think it is the same with any sport, I am not a sporty person myself but i can see why people get all caught up in wanting to see their country do well..
