Have you ever done the title of this interest?

I was about to post a different discussion when this title caught my eye, as it's one of my daughter's favourite things to do at the moment. She sings and dances wildly, a bit like a tribal song and dance. It's so sweet to watch, and she does it whether there's anybody there to watch or if there's no-one there at all. Sometimes she doesn't know I'm watching and she has an extra wild time! It's really special to see her doing that, it's like she's expressing what's in her heart!
I used to do this too when I was little (although I can't remember if I also did it when I was as young as 2!), and I also used to do it when I was (much) older, and going out to the occasional night club or even at home by myself. When the music plays the rhythm inside me somehow took over! It's an amazing feeling, and it feels good to let go. And I'm sure it's good for you.
Have you (or your child) been "possessed" by the music in this way? Where do you dance like no-one's watching?

It's so nice that kids have no inhibitions. I'm like you, I tend to do it when I'm at home and no-one can see me (although sometimes I join in with my little girl).

Yeah, I remember doing that as a child, just sing and dance in total abandon and I still remember that wondrous feeling. I've also watched a little niece do that, and yes, such moments are truly special! I still do that once in a blue moon, usually when I'm alone at home and a truly happy thought gets in my mind. When I had my dogs with me, they would actually like know or feel that happy carefree air, and would rear up and jiggle and juggle with me!

Yes, it is such a great, free feeling. It's nice that your niece does this too, and I love that your dogs join in as well!
Thanks for your answer.

Hahaha! My daughter calling "Mom watch this" as she pirouetted off the couch across to the chair or whatever, was an everyday occurrence. Later when she got older we used to do 'synchronized underwater swimming', hehehe. I really miss having a swimming pool.
You are very good with your descriptions. I especially liked the line "... and she does it whether there's anybody there to watch or if there's no-one there at all." You have conveyed her exuberance wonderfully!
I've got a mini trampoline that I love to dance on to bouncy music, especially Scottish and Irish fiddle tunes. It's exhilarating and soooo much fun! I do not dance unless the music moves me, but I've got a big plate glass window on one side and a huge mirror on the other so it's a little difficult for me to feel like no one is watching, hehehe, but I do my best.

Well, I'm a bit of a showoff actually so I don't really mind. And anyway, there are huge and many plants in front of the window anyway, so somebody would really have to be straining to look in and 'accidentally' see me bouncing away on my trampoline... and oh gee too bad they might even smile!

Lol! Your daughter telling you to watch her and pirouetting from chair to chair sounds very much like my little girl. As well as dancing around she loves twirling and jumping around the furniture. Such a little free-spirit, I love it! Thanks for your compliment about the descriptions, she inspires me sometimes.
How nice for you to have had a swimming pool, the synchronized underwater swimming sounds like great fun. And cool that you've got a trampoline. We're thinking of getting a little one too, and I'm sure we'll all be using it. I agree, Scottish and Irish music are lovely to dance (and jump around) to, really jiggy and happy. It's a shame that you don't feel it's private enough for you, but yes, you should just ignore them.

Yes I love to dance and I just make it up as I got along whatever the music stirs i me. I used to dance in my lounge room to music and did not care what anyone thought. I do not have the energy to do so at the moment but if I get better I will dance again and I am old enough now to not care if people watch. In fact the last time I danced was at my nephews wedding march 2007 and I even dragged my brother up. That was the first time he had danced in years, did him good.
It is all about doing what you want and not caring what others think and that is a wonderful carefree way to be.

That's lovely that you do this, and it's nice to lose your inhibitions and not care what other people thought. Shame that you don't have the energy at the moment, I really hope that you get, and are feeling better soon.
I'm glad that your showed your brother how much fun dancing could be as well.
I agree, it's good to be carefree and do what makes you happy.
Thanks for your answer, and take care.

I dance all the time if there is a good song playing. Sometimes it's all out no holds barred dancing and sometimes it's just a little bebop wiggling in my chair but I do it all the time and I don't really care if anyone sees me.
