Yep, I use blogs. I have several actually. I have accounts on Diaryland, Xanga, Livejournal, and Blogger.
Diaryland was my very first blog and I joined it back in 2001 when I was 15. I remember it was actually these two girls that I knew at the time who got me to join the website. However, I just very rarely use it anymore. I'll update on there maybe once every month to every few months.
I joined LiveJournal in 2005. Again, it was because of someone I knew in one of my classes in college. She had written an entry about the teacher of the class we had together and I asked could I see it. She said it was friends only and I'd have to have an account where she could add me. So I joined and she added me. At the time I joined, I actually had no intentions of ever updating it. But the next day I decided 'why not' and wrote an entry. Three years and over a thousand entries later, I consider my LiveJournal my 'main' blog.
I joined Xanga about the same time I did LiveJournal. I also use it for personal use. However I just don't really update much on it. Most of the people I knew who blogged used Xanga but they never update anymore.
As for my Blogger blog, I pretty much just use it to make money blogging. I started it as a personal blog, but now I just use it for other things.
So basically LiveJournal is the only one I really update all that much these days. And even then I haven't really updated much in a while.

I have 1 blog on ways to make extra money from home and I am getting ready to start a second blog with a team of people about life with MS. Both from the point of view of the person with MS and the care givers that have to put up with out ****.
I like blogs, good way to get information out.

I have 3 blogs. One is a moneymaking blog that I never go to anymore. The other two are personal blogs. One is on blogspot and the other one is on MySpace. I am terrible at keeping up with blogs of any kind. I go to my blog maybe once every two months and do a big update for my friends and family.
I know of one person who used myspace to do kind of what you are wanting to do. He didn't put his real name on there so he could get un-biased reactions to his writing.
I think I signed up for Vox a long time ago because my husband sent me a link. I am pretty sure I didn't write anything on there though.
