Yesterday, before I succumbed to the cold that has taken away most of today as far as productivity is concerned, I went to the Florence Poet Society's Annual Poetry Festival. There, I didn't sell as many books as I was hoping. In fact, I only sold two but this was made up for by the fact that my favorite local poet, Leslea Newman, bought my zines. You may know of her as she is famous for writing the childrens books Heather Has Two Mommies which is about a little girl whose raised by two lesbians. I was almost completely awestruck. Demi, my PCA, who thinks I'm fearless and not capable of being intimidated by anyone thought this was a hoot. Well, it's kind of weird when someone you've idolized since the age of 11 (when Heather first came out and I decided she must have some real ethics to deal with all that controversy) is talking to you like you're a normal person. I hope I didn't bumble over myself too badly. It's weird but all I could think about was the fact that my nails were not polished correctly. At least I managed to provide a few coherent sentences.

The subjects vary: politics, parks, disability, womenhood, sexuality, faith, people of color, Americanism. My latest issue collects the 30 poems I wrote one a day, each day in the month of September.

What are your zines about?
