Mud Slinging...

They all do it, in fact, no one has one the White House without it. I have complained about it myself, but is it really anything more than just a talking point? The sad fact is, it works. It doesn't really affect those of us who have decided already, but it does affect the decisions of the undecided... and elections are won and lost by the undecided, so why shouldn't the candidates sling a little mud? I also notice that some complainers can't tell the difference between mud slinging and simply pointing out the down sides of the opposition. Pointing out the down sides are accusation that are true. Mudslinging is either outright lies or taking a true point to the extreme. Cases in point: "Obama has close associations with a domestic terrorist." This is an example of pointing out the down sides of Obama. Why? Because it is true. "Obama is a terrorist because he pals around with one". This would be mud slinging because Obama and Ayers don't "pal around" and even if they did, it doesn't mean Obama is a terrorist himself. "If elected, McCain will continue the ban on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research." This would be an example of pointing out the down side of McCain (if you happen to support federal funding of embryonic stem cell research). "If elected, McCain will ban all stem cell research". This is an example of mudslinging since it is a blatant lie. I will say there is an up side to mudslinging... It is nothing short of hilarious to see someone complain about the other candidate's mud slinging, but ignore or defend that of the candidate they happen to support. ;~D

I love Obama too much to NOT be blind to any mud slinging his side has done. But they don't even need to do a lot, McCain makes it too easy. Oh dear.

Spoken like a true, mindless Obamabot. I don't care if you support Obama, that is your right, but grow a brain!

You have no idea what I like about Obama's side. Please don't be so opinionated, I shouldn't have to post every single issue I agree with on his side just to be noted of having an worthy opinion.

You openly admit that you love Obama too much to not be blind to him. He can lie all he wants and you'll still get all oogy over him. I don't have to judge you, you have already told me what you are. And what is the point of opinion forums if not to be opinionated? I don't discount your opinion, I pity your lack of the ability to think for yourself. No you don't have to spell out everything about Obama, but at least have enough self respect to come up with better arguments than your over active labido.

two grey animals in a stand off, across from each - two grey animals in a stand off, across from each other
I would rather hear about the solutions that they are offering us! I think if they concentrated on what they can actualy do and less mud slinging it would not be so embarrasing for thier party or for their individual images. I think the people want real answers. I know saying you have a plan and not explaining how it will work, dosent give us much confidence in the future.

Yah, I'll be glad when the election's over.. If my guy(s) win, I'll be happy, but if the other one does, then I get to spend four years where whining and bellyaching is at the top of my list of things to do, maybe even all I do.. all in preparation for the next election. Nothing else matters.
