when people are in pain they want their pain to stop everyone is not hooked on drugs and it seem as if they are treating giving pain pills as if everyone is on drugs this is not fair all people want when they go to the doctor is to feel better and the pain to stop.what do you think about this?

When you have to have pain pills ya have to be very careful not to get hooked on them. DOnt see any DOctors around here saying no to giving out pain pills if they are really needed. YA hve to know within yourself when to stop taking them and then stop!

i know but if you read some of the responses here in some cases pain killers are needed and should be use without question. last thing anyone wants is to lay in pain.the doctor should monitor the patient at all time but help them get throgh this.

Pain relief only treats symptoms, not the cause of the problem. So using painkillers actually masks the underlying problems that you might have - don't you think it is better for doctors to fix the cause rather than the symptoms? If no painkillers were available we would be forced to actually cure people instead of just fobbing them off with a pill... is that such a bad thing? There are no doubt, some problems which are not easily fixed, but for all others I believe it should actually be made harder to get pain killers.

I have said that there are, no doubt some problems that are NOT easily fixed... your original post only talks about pain, you don't mention any specific disease. My response is merely that just because you are in pain does not automatically mean that a pain-killer is the answer. I know that you understand that because you have said so, but your question is about doctor's attitudes and I believe a doctor who is cautious about prescribing painkillers is a good doctor. A doctor that merely prescribes painkillers to every patient that is in pain in order to stop them complaining of the pain is not a good doctor.

thats true i feel the doctor should try to find why they have the pain in the first place.

hi dear the pai relievers are basically poisonous and addictive in nature!! with common and frequent use we become addicted to them and tomorrow the same quantity of dose will become ineffective!! so that is the reason the doctors always do no jump on to the pain relievers!!

I know it's crazy. I know that addiction to pain pills is a bgi problem but hey, it's not my fault the doctors got to free hearted with them. My husband got hurt at work the other day (cut the tip of his index finger off in a machine OUCH) and had to go to the ER. I met him there and they made me feel like criminal because they were discharging him with no pain meds and I insisted that they give him a script for them. I knew once the anesthesia wore off that they used to sew him up he was going to be hurting and it was going to be in the middle of the night. I threw myself a big fit and I got the script but I thought they were going to have to call in the FBI before I could get it! LOL And as a point of interst I was right! About 2 in the morning guess what I was getting out of the bottle? LOL It's ridiculous!
