Do you watch R rated movies? Or, are they too violent?

I like to watch R rated movies
late at night after my daughter has gone
to bed.
I can't watch them when she is in the room, but
I just get so tired of watching (or hearing)
Disney.
I need a break.
Sometimes, the R rated movie is an action movie or horror film
with lots of slashing and blood and guts, like Pitch Black.
Most of the movies I watch are PG 13, and not really
violent.
Movies with a PG 13 rating usually have
a bit more adult drama than PG movies.
Do you ever watch R rated movies?
Do you think they're more entertaining than
PG or PG 13 movies?

Yes, I watch R rated movies. I find them to be more satisfying than the "watered down" PG-13 movies. Nothing against PG-13, but I am a fan of horror/thriller genre material and for me, a PG-13 movie is to an R rated movie what a "Goosebumps" book is to a Stephen King novel. It is the scary story with all the good stuff taken out. Now don't get me wrong, I have seen a couple of PG-13 movies that have been pretty intense...."Signs" and "The Sixth Sense" come to mind...but even there, the shock value just doesn't hold up to the R-rated movies, where directors really pull out all the stops. Imagine a classic horror movie like "The Exorcist" or "The Shining" dropped down to a PG-13 movie. You'd end up with a lot less thrills...and certainly a lot less of the intensity.

I am not really a fan of R rated movies but I have watched them, and I don't find anything wrong with them. I am just more of a fan of "fluff" movies then anything, but the occasional R flick is a great release from the normal kinds of movies.

I like TV shows too.
I watch those online.
It's a nice escape from daily pressures
and worry.

I don't watch many movies at all. We watch a lot of Disney and Nick at our house, and by the time my son is in bed, a lot of times I just want some peace and quiet. :) If I'm in the mood to watch something, it's usually one of the shows I've DVR'ed, now that most of them have started back up. We DVR Army Wives, Heroes, all three CSI's, House, Criminal Minds, and Law & Order SVU. There's always SOMETHING on my DVR for me to watch. :)

I watch R rated movies. I get all kinds of PG and Disney movies with the kids. I enjoy being able to watch R rated, adult movies now and then. I find them interesting. I like horror movies. I also like the dramas and things like that.

I watch R rated movies and often enjoy them. It seems however that R fits a wide range of movies. Some movies that are rated R disgust me. For example we went to see the movie Blindness last weekend. I felt this movie should have had a rating worse then R. It was awful. Lots of violence. It showed rape scenes and murders in gruesome detail. I wish I had known how terrible it was before I had wasted my money and time.

I don't really have a perferance. Hubby and I watch movies at least 2 or 3 times a week. Usually we toss in the movie right after the kids are in bed. I prefer comedy movies, and some of them are rated R. I don't care much for the ones that are overly sexually explicit, and we won't watch most horror movies, but other than that we don't really care what the rating is unless it's something we expect to allow the kids to watch.
