Its Festival Time Here- Dussera and Diwali

I live in India and the month of October is special because two major festivals Dussera and Diwali are celebrated.Sometimes Diwali is celebrated in November too. Presently Navratras (nine days and nights)are being observed ,during which we keep fast and worship goddess Durga(Goddess of power). At many places Ram Lilas (Holy play) are performed which depict the story of the famous epic- " Ramayana ", in which Lord Rama fights against evil and establishes the supremacy of good over evil. The tenth day is observed as the victory of Lord Rama and the effigy of Ravana (evil king) is burnt in most parts of India. I think most of the mylot members may not be knowing about this festival,that is why I thought of mentioning it here. Is there any festival in your country which you think most of us mylotters may not be aware of? would you like to share it here?
