I haven't been food shopping this week, am going tomorrow. What is the cheapest item of vegetable you have brought this week (or last week) and how did you cook it? As I said I'm off to the shops tomorrow

The cheapest vegetable I purchased this week was a head of cabbage. I just took the leaves off the head and cut the stalks out. Then I washed it and boiled it with a pinch of salt. When it was cooked, I strained it and chopped it. Of course it was quite a big head of cabbage so I used some of it for the dinner and the remainder I put into small dishes with lids and froze it. That will come in handy for some day when I haven't time to cook.
