I thought about getting mine done and everyone that I know that has one went through intense pain the first few days...do you think getting one is a good or bad idea?

I have mine, it didnt hurt having it done, the pain after having it doesnt isnt that bad either. Sure you cant eat solid food for about a week, and your tongue swells but that quickly passes... you just have to keep your month cleaned, that means if you smoke you have to use mouth wash after you smoke... but all in all it is not near as bad as people say it is, trust me =)

Well, coming from soneone that also has it done, I will be honest as to what has happened to me. The girl that did it was awesome, the initial piercing did not hurt. But it did hurt up to a week after. It was swollen real bad, it hurt to eat, it hurt to talk...practically anything I did that dealt with my tounge, it hurt. But you know what? I would take it back for the world. I was also told that over time with the ball hitting your teeth, it knocks the enamel off. But... I figure that it is your decision. When I first saw the needle when tounge piercing started, I stayed away. But I enjoy having it now. And that is up to you. It is your tounge, your happiness...it's all you. But I honestly wouldn't really listen to anyone. If you want it, then you get it.

I have my tongue pierced for the second time now. It didn't hurt either time that I got it done. Yes, it will swell a little bit, but it's nothing major. I mean you'll talk funny, but that's about it. I think if you get one, you need to be the only one making that decision. You also need to find a reputable piercer to do it. Keep in mind that if you get it done and it's not for you, take it out and it'll heal up within a day or so.

I've had mine pierced for 6 years and have never had any problems with it. It didn't hurt at all when they did it. I wouldn't call the pain that you have for the 2 days after as intense. It is uncomfortable but not too bad.

I had it done long time ago. I didn't have a problem with any pain. The problem is the swelling, which makes it hard to talk & eat. But it only lasts a few days. Then you'll want to get a smaller barbell, and I'd also recommend getting one with acrylic balls so you don't chip your teeth.

I thought about it as well when I was younger but decided against it. I heard that it's horrible for your teeth and that dentists don't reccomend getting your tongue pierced.

yeah!! I did lots of research and they say all types of things can go wrong...they chip your teeth, you can get infections if its not done right, all types of stuff...however, I know lots of people with one and they seem to be doing just fine (minus the one friend that swallowed her ring thingy)

This wasn't bad at all. You're eyes will water for a second and it's over. One quick poke. I've had mine done for 6 months now and love it!! It's so cute and the lil' diamond stud gets me so many compliments.

I had my septum pierced. It was my favorite piercing EVER, painful but not in a bad way. I would have kept it, but unfortunately, my mom discovered it the same day I had the feds raid my house (long story) and it had to come out... But whenever I get more money I'm getting it done again, because I miss it.

I've heard its painful, your tongues swells up, you have to be careful what you eat and personally, I don't see the appeal in having it done.

hi!! it doesnt hurt at all... i pierced my own tongue and i just used a needle and then presto ehhehehe but u hav to make sure that the barbell you are going to use is gonna be surgical stainless to avoid infection and after piercing... drink lotsa cold water and take ibuprofen...it'll swell for like 2-3 days but after that the swelling will go down and youve got urself a nice tongue hehehhee

I got my tongue pierced about 7 yrs ago.It really didnt hurt as bad as you d think. It actually didnt hurt at all.The swishing of the listerine for aminute to sterelize your mouth is what hurts the most(burns).I was actually very surprised that it didnt hurt. After words my tongue was swollen forabout 2-3 days but it didnt hurt.It was uncomfortable and you have to eat and drink only liquids since you ant chew.I took my piercing out though like 2 yrs later cuz too many sick minded people!!!I say if tahst what you want then do it.But just be ready to have alot of sick people make sick comments and assume you only got it for a certain reason.

so this past saturday, I finally did it..it didn't even hurt!!! I was listening to the girl who did it and my friend talk about sneakers and she did it in like a second..my tongue is swollen a little..this is day 5 and I still have to talk carefully and eat things that are mushy like mashed potatoes..I ate some solid stuff..but its still a little hard to eat without biting it..bit it a few times and it hurt like heck..so much that it made me think maybe I should take it out..but I am still glad I finally did it!!

I have had mine done for about 7 years now. I don't worry about the job aspect because you can always take it out and put it back in. It looks sexy and to me its worth it. I went into a tatoo shop initially to get a new tat but I couldn't make a decision on what I wanted so I opted for the tongue ring, because I can take it out when I want, unlike a tatoo that I might have regreted. The pain is different for everyone and it is bothersome the first week. Like someone previously said you can get a ceramic ball and even plastic. I have so many different colors and designs. I swallowed on to and I am sure it just passed through my system.

It is truly a bad idea, it will hamper your speech and it might destroy your taste buds as well and you will not be able to enjoy the food as well.

It's not true about being in terrible pain. I did mine done 8 years ago and my tongue only swelled a little and i didn't bleed any cause I knew what I was doing when I did it. If they know what they are doing it will be just fine and shouldn't be in any pain but it's your choice and nobody can tell u what 2 do.
