My Cat keeps peeing on us!

Well my cat is 14 and he has been drinking alot more water lately and has a cold as he keeps sneezing. when he is in he is using the litter tray just to do wees in but lately he has jumped on my lap, my mum and my brothers and each time weed on us. Has this ever happened to any one else? I am putting it down to age but am also taking him to the vets tomorrow to get checked over however I am finding it confusing that he is using the litter tray some of the time.

Please bring your cat for a check up at the vet. When my cat got older she started doing the same things. She was checked for diabetes and kidney trouble. Both are treatable if identified. Drinking the extra water can be a symptom of either. After diagnosis and treatment, my cat lived to be 21. Good luck to you, and please let us know what happens, ok?

Firstly thank you all for the responses. Well I took patch to the vets and he was given some strong holf flea and tick solution as frontline has stopped working and he had some bloods taken because the vet was sure it was thyroid disease however when the bloods came back they were high for that hormone but he had no other symtoms that made her think it was this so he is going back today for a tummy examination as he is still weeing loads and loosing weight but constantly eating so now the vet thinks that it is his kidneys, i will keep you updated and keep my fingers crossed that it is nothing to serious as he has picked up in himself and is being more loving as he doesnt want to go out and stay out for days at a time.

You didn't say if your vet was checking him out for diabetes. Cats can get that too, and the eight loss and drinking are symptoms of that too. Does he eat dry food? Male cats sometimes have a problem with that. Hope everything turns out ok..please let me know, ok?

No idea but I'd love to hear what your vet says. My cat only pee's outside of his box if it needs to get changed and sometimes life is too busy to work on his specific litter changing needs.Unfortunatly he either pee's on the laundry pile behind the bathroom door or any empty cardboard box he sees.

I don't mind if he pee's in the EMPTY box so long as it is EMPTY & I didn't need it for anything KWIM? As I do bring home boxes of groceries from time to time from Aldi's and just leave the box in the basement.

It's possible that he has a bladder infection. Taking him to the vet is probably the best thing to do. I have two 13 year old cats and have no trouble like this I'm pleased to say. anyway, I hope that it's just a simple bladder infection that can be dealt with by a course of antibiotics.

no idea what to do with that but i guess you have to take your cat to the vet so he could tell you what to do about your cat's condition
