I'm thinking of going for a Skinny Dip in Maine

I think I might head on up to Greenville, Maine sometime for a Skinny Dip. Anyone who knows me well will never believe I said that, but it's true. I'm seriously thinking of getting my friend Tom to do a long weekend road trip that will include the Black Frog Restaurant where I can skinny dip to my heart's content. My way. And, not au naturale, but au jus! Yep, that's right, the Skinny Dip is a roast beef dipping sandwich! How did I come to learn of this scandalously named delight? Especially since I live in South Jersey, about 6 hours shy of Maine? Well, when you read this article, you'll find out. It's a classic. I just want to know - did anyone get pictures??? http://www.nbc10.com/money/17632727/detail.html?rss=phi&psp=weird-news But, honestly, I think the place sounds like a hoot! I'm not much on going to bars or pubs, but if they've got a decent meal menu, I can enjoy them. And, if they've got a quirky atmosphere as well - heck, I wanna be there!! How about you? Do you go to the bar for drinks or do you go to the bar for dinner and a drink? And, are there any "personality ridden" places you've been to I might get a kick out of?

That sounds like a fun place! I don't much look for places like that around here, just not that fond of "southern" cooking. Tho I once ate at one of the Luling BBQ joints that the town is supposed to be so famous for. So, where in South Jersey are you? My aunt lives in Egg Harbor and my cousin (her daughter) lived in Atlantic City - or around there anyway. My dad grew up in Atlantic City, my mom in North Jersey

Wow - all these Del. Valley and S. Jersey people popping up all over!! I'm in Gloucester and Camden Counties. I stay with my mother in Barnsboro (about 15 miles S of Philly), but I pay for an apartment in Gloucester City (about 2 miles from South Philly). AC is about a straight shot from Gloucester City down the expressway. Worked at the airport FAA for a while. Took about an hour to get there. Growing up, OUR shore destination was Cape May and once in a while, Wildwood. We'd stay in a summer place in Town Bank on the bay and hit Cape May almost every day. It was much quieter back then, before it became an "IN" scene of B&Bs and such. It's still nice, though, and not nearly as crowded as the other shore towns. They even have a no pedestrian zone where there are shops and eateries, etc. in the original buildings - not some new modern zone shoved in the middle. Very nice. And still very Victorian. I do like New England, though. We've gone to Cape Cod a couple of times, once for a week. But, other times we've driven to Portland, ME and then come down along the coastal towns and just explored. Another time we drove through Vermont. I like it up there. Where in the South are you? We took one weekend and drove to Savannah. I loved it! I don't do heat and humidity well, so we went during one of our cold spells in February. Nice change from the ice!! But, it was just so nice there!!! I want to go back.

South, as in Texas. Yep, done that drive from the City of Brotherly Love to "Sin City" a couple of times. Its easier to fly in to Philly than Newark and get to AC.

Well hell, I'm still trying to get my head of Chesapeake Bay and the skinny dipping! LOL I LOVE skinny dipping, but I loved the sandwich better. Can't help you with recommendations for 'personality ridden' places in your area, but hey if you come to Canada I'll do you a Blank Angus French Dip that will keep you salivating for eons.......................and you can keep the horns!ROFL

Nice - I might take you up on that sandwich - sans the horns, thanks! LOL Won't be doing the Chesapeake any time soon or ever. But, I did see dolphins swimming out of it once when I was just getting on the Bay Bridge-Tunnel. I wished I had seen them sooner so I could pull over because once you're on there, you can't stop until you get to the middle - by then, we were long past those cute little guys.
