Obsessive Lawn Cutter

We have a neighbor who cuts his lawn at least 2 times a week. He does this all year round. It takes him at least 4 hours and he doesn't even have a very big yard. I can't understand why it takes him so long. All of the neighbors are baffled. I think he has some sort of pattern that he goes by because it looks like he cuts straight back and forth first and then goes over it again on a diagonal. Sometimes his wife will mow the lawn the normal way. If she does then you guessed it, he's out there the next day doing it his way. Does anyone else have a neighbor like this?

lol oh yes my neighbour is exactly the same, He is elderly i would say around 65-70 and retired so he has nothing else to do i suppose, he spends all day every day pottering around in his garden. He cuts his lawn maybe 2 -3 times a week and i have seen him move one of his potted plants somehwere for a hour and then move it back, he does this a lot and i just assume its something for him to do.

I can understand someone who's retired doing that. It gives them something to look forward to, like a hobby. Maybe he has some kind of OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder).

Not really, we have one who cuts it a lot and putters around the yard all day pulling weeds and other stuff. He is retired and has nothing else to do. Puts a bit of shame on the rest of us, lol. I have to push my husband to do it. He rather waits and prays it won't rain so the grass won't grow, lol.

Ah yes, the husbands love when it doesn't rain.

It seems like he's a little obsessive, but maybe he just need the exercise. I knew a husband who couldn't let his wife fold his cloths, he always had to refold them just so. I wouldn't have put up with that I would have left them for him to fold in the first place. Good thing I'm not married to someone like that.
