Ballads--the traditional kind, you know--the types we children of the 60s and 70s laughed, cried, fell in love to--do you believe that that particular style will ever be in vogue again? Or will we be doomed to raising a generation of kidlets who know nothing about anything but T.I, Soulja Boy, and Rihanna, artists I am convinced won't matter 20 years down the road?
I guess I would like to hear a huge comeback by artists who are influenced by the likes of The Carpenters, David Gates and Bread, the Dramatics, the Chi-Lites, etc.
How many of you feel like I do?

There are young people that still listen to that type of music believe it or not. My teenage daughter and her friends listen to much of the older stuff. Some of them have been updated and I like them. Get this, I got on to download songs one night and I saw all this stuff from Frank Sinatra downloaded! I was shocked to say the least. I mean...my dad listened to Frank Sinatra...I had to but I tried not to. I asked her about it and she said, " oh my God, mom...he is so cool!" Go figure. I guess I was more into the rock than some of those you listed but I did like david gates & bread and The carpenters had some good ones. The music back then just had more staying power....obviously as young people still listen to it.

Music, just ain't the same anymore. There is still a lot of good music. Just not the same. Thanks to Utube I can listen to a lot of old music while still exploring some of the new, and once in a while a great song.

Oh yes, I really like oldies too. The Carpenters has been my favorite, and even further back, great singers , Bing Crosby, Frank Sintra, Julie Andrews !
