Why do people stereotype other people?

I think its rediulous to put people in stereotypes Iv heard so many silly stereotypes in my life, dont people know that everyone's different no matter what race or gender they are I dont stereotype people, I know that in some rare occasion's theres some people that fall in to certain stereo types but thats not true in every case and I get so annoyed whenever I hear someone spout some dumb stereotypical statement
and I wonder why people do that?

These sort of people, in my opinion, are sheep, they follow everybody else in their assumptions!!
