This is one of my favorite inexpensive, simple dinners. It may be called other things by other people. It's basically elbow macaroni and beef in spaghetti sauce. I like to add corn to mine with buttered bread on the side.
This isn't a meal we have too often, but I needed something quick and easy for soccer night.
Does your family eat goulash? How often do you have it?

Sure, I used to practically live on that sort of thing, I used curry powder as well to add a good bit of spiciness to it and it's pretty filling. I hardly ever make it now though, with beef, even "cheap" ground beef getting so expensive now it's not a cheap meal to make any more.

I buy my ground beef in bulk. I pay about $10 for 6 pounds of it. I will use 3 lbs for my meals, that feeds my family of 7 and gives us left overs.

My husband is like that too. He'd rather put butter on his noodles, but he will eat sauce every now and then.

We do! I use all types of things in it. I put alot of onions and garlic, macaroni and lots of tomatoes and ground pork, hamburger, or deer meat.I like to make corn bread with it and make enough to have left overs. You can also add the left over veggies and it can be different each time you make it. Its a great warm winter food. It also goes great with biscuits.

Since it's something we only have once in awhile, I don't like to change it up very much. This is the way my mom used to make it, so I like it as is. If we had it more frequently I would definitly try to change it up.

We eat goulash but our recipe is totally different than yours. Ours comes from the big red betty crocker cook book. it is beef cubes cooked with onions and garlic and the sauce is ketchup, paprika, worchestershire sauce and brown sugar. then it is with egg noodles not macaroni. We eat it pretty often because it is pretty cheap and easy to make as long as you can find the beef cubes cheap.

We have this once in awhile. I add cheese to mine over the top and let it cook in the oven to melt the cheese over it. I also make cheesy bread on the side...yummie.

I never think to add cheese. That would probably make it even better.

Sounds very good! But I must say to you that it isn't quite the original REAL Hungarian gulyás
But still sounds delicious though!
Original Hungarian gulyás is made with peppers, tomatoes, garlic, lots of small sliced meat, onions, and if you'd like it, you could add some potatoes to it! I'd just like to mention this to you!
And I must say I am not really making this occasionaly, because I am the only one who knows in my family about the total recipe for Hungarian gulyás! And as well it takes quite some time before it's done, because it is only cooked in water! And traditionally, we always do it ouside, and I'm used of cooking it on a campfire, which makes it even more delicious! Really, usually, when I'm cooking this, it takes about 6 to 8 hours before I am finished, but it will taste DELICIOUS! Believe me..!
And I can know it, because I live in Hungary!

Hi katsmeow. I love goulosh. I haven't made it in awhile tho. I make it like that too with macaroni, spaghetti sauce and beef. My Mom used to make it with tomatoes. Canned or fresh. That was good that way too. Maybe I'll fix it soon. Have a good lotting day.
