Why are Filipinos so Gullible?

here's my personal story: Im a fresh graduate and i need to get an NBI clearance for employment purposes. I went to the NBI office and i only brought my birth certificate and my wallet with me. little did i know that the requirements for obtaining an NBI clearance is to have at least 1 valid I.D. I have a school I.D. with me but not valid anymore (Im already an alumni, not a student). I presented my invalid I.D. and the NBI personnel asked me if i already graduated from my school, knowing that these people are easily fooled, i confidently said yes but i enrolled again for a masteral degree (a lie!). The personnel acutally believed me. I got my clearance and went on my way. I observed that officers/employees in government agencies are easily beguiled. They are not scrupulous enough. I just have no confidence in people working for the government. Most of them are folly. Not just them but also the average Filipino. Gullible-ness is like an endemic disease in the Philippine. What a shame...

I just post a lengthy answer to one of your topics and I guess I will post a lengthy one again. we are not gullible people, we are just very trusting. as for the government officials, I really don't blame them even though I have some bad experience with government employees. I feel for them because I know wage are low and the work is hard, and they are loaded with so many work and they did not bother to verify any information you give. In fact what I find funny about this post is you, that you brag how you fool those people who are working hard and yet receiving low wages, I feel for them really, and for the record Filipinos are not gullible they just trust easily, but I think with people like you, Filipinos may need to learn to be distrustful.

So are you telling me that even you are easily deceived? I don't think that we are people who are easily fooled, we jut trust people easily. We believe that there are still people who are trustworthy and they are worth taking the risk. We intend to give ourselves to people easily without even thinking that they may do something wrong with us, we only see the goodness in people. And I think that is one trait of Filipinos that I like. Good day and God bless.

Im filipino yes but im not gullible..i actually have this obsessive-compulsive personality where i tend to be a perfectionist in almost everything..and im very particular to details..im quite meticulous you know..Most Filipinos are gullible because most of them are UNeducated or UNDEReducated. why are they uneducated? because they are poor. Poverty is also endemic in the philippines. Why are they poor? because the goverment is keeping them that way.

I don't think that is being gullible... but that is a clear case of a government employee not doing his/her job right... so sad... since there are so many ways to manipulate an agency that has a very sensitive function... a person can get like a lot of nbi clearance without getting caught... I hope they would look into this... because as far as i am concern... this clearance is not really that accurate in terms of identifying people who did a lot of bad things...
