On the table , there is a glass half-filled with water. Optimist says there is still half glass of water, whereas Pessimist says there is only half glass of water left. The situation is the same, Optimist looks at the bright side whereas pessimist looks at the dark side. I am always Optimist, looking at the bright side.

My boyfriend is the opposite of me, he is an optimist. He always smile eventhough we have lots of problems. He finds the solution to our every problem with ease, although I know he is in pain and he always comfort me that everything will be fine. So in a way he is my strength and my saviour in going to this life and our relationship.

I think I'm a pessimist. When I come across some tough things,I always imagine how terrible if things turn bad.Being a pessimist or optimist,I guess that depends on the way you think.

I am a pessimist to according to your responses. Although it's hard to be one because it seems that nothing will be going right if you think such a way. You find something that will make the positive to a negative. Am I making any sense? Even this pregnancy that I am going through right now, I find some fault in it like what if it comes to be abnormal or what if I'll go to much pain in laboring this child, what if it's caesarian? Things like that are a burden to my heart and brains. Its filing up and at times it gives me a head ache.

Simply put, optimist is a person who will view things from the bright side, while pessimist will view it from the dark side. It's very important for us to think positively, if we want to be happy. So, bear in mind that what we all face in life is the same, but it depends on a person mind set to make a difference. It just depends on how we look at it and what action we take accordingly. Take for example, if we are given half a glass of water, the optimist will say "Great, there are still half a glass of water left in the glass" . But the pessimist will says, "This is too bad, the glass is half emptied!" . So, hope this will help you to differentiate the contrast of being an optimist and a pessimist.

Hi there! Well optimist is a positive thinker. Someone who always thinks and waits for something good to happen. While a pessimist is the opposite of positive thinking so its simply a negative thinker. Between the 2 descriptions you can be able to know where you are. Just try to evaluate yourself on how you look at things and you will know if you're an optimist or pessimist. Hope that helps. Ciao!

An optimist has the tendency to expect the best possible outcome of a situation. A pessimist tends to take a gloomy view of a situation. Which are you, rhyannefranz? I am an optimist. It's easier, in my opinion, to be positive. Being negative all the time takes too much energy.

I always look on the bright side, but things don't always go with my mind. So now I think it's more discreet to be neutral: evaluate the risk and opportunity and come up with an objective result. I can't agree with you more in your words "being negative all the time takes too much energy." It's true and I always tried to relax myself when something bad happened, as since the damage is already done, why not just take it as it is?

Hi, there rhyannefranz. I consider myself an optimist, but more then that I'm a realist I like to look at life realistically, and I'm always optimistic but not in a unrealistic way, because I have known people that are so optimistic that they refuse to see life as it really is, and they blind themselves to the unpleasant things and only look at the positive side of life even when there in the middle of somthing that isn't posative I think its important to be optimistic but also be able to accept and deal with things that are unpleasant in life, because I think in order to get to the good things in life sometimes you have to deal with the bad things to me an optimist is someone who looks at life in a positive why but not to a fault I think in some way you have to have a good balance of both optimism and pessimism.
