What do you do to get referral on the net?

Although i am a member of some ptc sites,survey sites but have not been able to successfully generate referrals under myself. I tried out easyhits4u but surprisingly even after more than 3000 hits not a single referral could be created. I see persons who have generated hundered's of them. Where am i wrong. I managed some vide answering yahoo answers but all went inactive. Can u guide me how can i create a strong downline ?

Yeah, I am also searching what is the best way of get referals. What I could do now is tell mylot to my friends, but you know not all of them have so much spare time, not they are willing to do so. Expect the good answers.

I have only managed to recruit 2 referrals up till now. They seem active although they are not regular posters. I sent an email to my friends but no one seemed to care to join! I just put an advert on a free classified site and these two persons seemed interested to join mylot. I tried to help them as much as possible.
