could you live like the pioneers with less convienence?

In this day and age, I doubt it. You might get away with it for a while but alot of it would depend on the person and their own personal strength. I don't think I'm much like the pioneer women...strong and tough...I've gotten too used to comforts. I can't see me scrubbing clothes in a washtub, grind wheat or hauling water and wood. I would like to visit these times and see how things were done and I think ppl, including myself, have come to depend too much on convenience. Oh no way! But, once the EMP's(Electomagnetic Pulse) hits our nation from either American politicians or Russians, we will ALL be living in the stone ages, forget the pioneer times. Look it up EMP, you will be shocked and quite frightened. It is time to stock up on all things necessary to survive without electricity.

I have often thought about this question. i would be able to give up alot in my life. But not everything. Such as electricity or heat. I would howver have no problem having a garden or raising animals.

When I was a child, we didn't have a tv, phone, car, fridge or any of the modern day electronics like computers, mocrowaves etc. We didn't have many toys but we learned to make some at school. I think those were the happiest days of my life and I wouldn't mind at all going back to those days. However, I think that is as far back as I would like to go.
