"That One" vs "The One"

The marching orders have gone out from the DNC, a good Democrat will express outrage about McCain refering to Obama as "That One"... But in their myopic hypocrisy, they forget that "The One" is a common reference to Obama. Just another example of Mindless Minions vs Critial Thinkers.

two men and one with a paper - two men and one with a paper
I do not think it was even worth them mentioning it. With all the serious things to discuss, this is what they want to dwell on? Really, Mccain has a solid reputation and he dosent think low like they are trying to indicate.MCCAIN IS THE MAN, WITH THE RECORD AND EXPERIENCE AND he dosent need on the job training.

It wouldn't have been mentioned if the DNC hadn't put out the order to Mindless Minions.

The record and experience of voting with Bush the vast majority of the time, and bragging about agreeing with him far more than disagreeing, as well as agreeing with him on all the transcendent issues. That's his record, and that's his experience. And that's why he's going to lose.

I only seen bits and peaces of the debate because my husband had the remote and he didn't want to watch it but I did see a clip on the morning news of when McCain referred to Obama as, "that one". It didn't sound racist to me. When I heard it I thought he was saying, "that one", meaning, "that candidate" (Obama), not "this candidate" (himself). I was not aware that democrats or anyone was upset about it.

It's not really being talked about as a racist thing, but it is kinda disrespectful to point to the side while looking away, and saying "that one" did something, instead of using his name and looking at him directly. It goes hand in hand with McCain's seeming inability to look at Obama at ALL in the first debate--just kind of a dismissive attitude. Not acknowledging/respecting your opponent. That kind of thing. Think about this: if Obama had done that instead of McCain, do you have any doubt there would be an explosion of pseudo-outrage from the right?

This just in! Phrases such as: That One, That Guy, This Guy, and HIM are all racial slurs. Avoid using them when Obama is in the room!

I've been busy all day today so I guess I'm "out of the loop." I watched the debate on CNN last night and a little bit of the analysis afterwards where that comment was mentioned but I didn't notice the Democrats on the panel expressing outrage. As far as the "The One" reference, I musta missed that one along the way. Guess I'll have to try to get caught up when I get home.
