Is there such a thing as low fat or low calorie pancakes?

I'm a big fan of pancakes of any kind.
But, pancakes are not low fat or low
calorie (neither is pancake syrup),
so usually I skip pancakes for breakfast.
I'd love to find some lower fat or lower
calorie pancake recipes.
Do you have any 'diet friendly' pancake
recipes?

Check about.com low carb section and look at recipes, breakfast and pancakes. They have one that is made with almond flour. I( have not tried the pancakes but like other things that I have made with the almond flour. We also made them on time using flax meal which is low carb. We did not use 100% flax like the recipe called for but rather 1/2 flax and 1/2 flour (in my case gluten free flour) and they were delicious.

I always make pancakes from scratch, and use whole wheat flour. I don't even know what the calorie or fat content is, but I'm sure they are healthier than most mixes. I also make my own syrup. It's high in calories, since it's got quite a bit of sugar, but it's not too high in fat. It's just sugar, milk, and peanut butter, and not much peanut butter even.

I really wish I remembered the name of the product, but a couple years ago I came across a fat free pancake mix. All I had to do is add water, and then cook them on the stove. They were so good! I don't know if the brand was Krusteaz or not, but they were really good. They didn't taste like any diet food either.

I love pancakes and I don't particularly need to have them low fat or diet type. Fat is good for me and I have no problem with pancakes that have lots of butter and fat. Cheers!!

I just read somewhere yesterday that what makes our food calorie and fat higher are the additives that we use. Its better to use butter than margarine, fresh fruits instead of preserved ones and maybe, instead of using maple syrup, try using honey.

I have a recipe using soya flour which is a low-carb alternative, and then eggs and a little water. They tasted great, but I had to resist the urge to cover them with sugar. Instead I used a splash of lemon juice which made them really tangy!
If my memory serves I think the recipe was in an Atkins low-carb diet book.
Happy pancaking!

Not sure how to do that. My guess is to use low fat and low calorie ingredients.

yes, if you buy the wheat pan cake mix and some of the healthfood sections and stores have them. I even found wheat waffles. Then you will need low fat syrup and butter. Pancakes can be low calorie and still be delicious.

I've seen low-cal/fat pancake recipe that use whipped egg whites;
I'm sure the recipes are somewhere on te FoodNetwork website. xD
And as far as syrups there are sugar free, calorie free kinds, but they may taste funny. xD
I've also seen no-sugar-added fruit syrups that are bound to be lower calorie than regular syrup.
Or I wonder if angel food cake mix [the "just add water" kind] will be low cal? :o
