Do you really think there will be "change" with Obama?

I honestly dont think he will be able to change all that much.He is promising the world but I highly doubt he will be able to follow through will all of it.I think the economy will be on life support even him in office.

Oh I'm sure there will be change, just not the change he's promising. Bush has been blamed for everything wrong with our country, but take a look at how our economy was for his first 6 years. You'll see that gas prices were at roughly $2.20 per gallon before democrats took the majority and Pelosi became Speaker of the House in November of 2006 and Harry Reid became Senate Majority Leader in January of 2007. Sine then gas prices have skyrocketed and our economy has landed squarely in the crapper. Bush has taken all the blame for this despite the fact that he kept gas prices down during his first 6 years while the republicans controlled congress. I think we're headed for some serious trouble if Obama wins the election and his cronies maintain control of the house and senate. The Great Depression was a change too you know.

Gas Prices - Notice how gas prices remained steady under Bush while republicans had the majority in the house and senate. Then look at 2007. Prices skyrocketed once democrats gained control of the house and senate. Is that the change you want?
I hate when I forget to include links. http://www.eia.doe.gov/oil_gas/petroleum/data_publications/wrgp/mogas_home_page.html

I think he will make many mistakes because he does not have any experience. I think it will take many years for him to learn what Mccain already knows. To make changes, he will have to learn alot more and mistakes are part of learning. It also could go to his head and because he is young could be disatrous!

"I think he will make many mistakes because he does not have any experience." McCain was talking about invading Iraq ONE MONTH after 9/11. Obama was always against it. Proof positive that "experience" doesn't mean jack if you don't have good judgment, which Obama does.

I agree with you. Regardless of who wins the election I doubt if any of the nominees has the power to change everything. There are too many factors that have brought our country on a downward path and one man cannot change them overnight.

Lets put it this way: the more things change, the more things stay the same. In other words: In some ways, but not in others. Isn't that how it always is generally? No politician ever comes through on all his promises, that I've seen..so why we'd expect EVERY single promise to be followed through...meh. The economy will probably get worse regardless who gets elected, I agree. It'll take a long time for us to get better. Our ideas economically and in general on a business scale...was flawed. We're reaping what we've sown. It's a tough learning experience, but that's the only way we learn -- I think our fear of failure's probably our biggest flaw we've had, really.

Well, Obama's a great candidate, but he doesn't have a magic wand. :P This economic crisis will be tough to get through, but if there's one thing anyone paying attention has learned about Obama, is that he's got his head on straight, and is good at coming up with solutions. As for his "change", the thing that makes him stand out from most politicians is that he's willing and able to tell you exactly what steps he wants to take toward his goals. So it's not just "well, he promised all this stuff, and now let's hope he does it", but more like "well, this is what he says he'll do...and here's how he plans to do it." Take health care for instance. Obama's got a solid plan--economists agree overwhelmingly on that. Now McCain promises his plan will be even better, but things just didn't add up. He promised it would be "budget-neutral", meaning it would cost NOTHING to implement, but he didn't say how, which is a pretty major detail, I think--no free lunch and all that. But now it recently came out exactly how he plans to pay for his health care plan. I blogged about it (referencing the Wall Street Journal)--it may shock you: http://clarusvisum.blogspot.com/2008/10/how-mccain-makes-his-health-care-plan.html

Either candidate can promise us the moon - but 'congress & the senate' have to support what he wants to do. What's sad, it that usually the programs that are really needed, are cut to the bone. The rest of them go untouched, and need some cuts. This economic situation being a world wide thing - makes me wonder if the Lord isn't letting us see how selfish and power grabbing many are in government and banking and other institutions that have taken advantage of people. I hope that a lot of behind the scenes rackets are exposed and soon. There's a lot of it going on, and NO ONE is making any noise about it, or attempting to do something about it. The C.E.O. from A.I.G is a prime candidate for investigation, and thank God, the government IS going after him, and his cronies!

After the government goes after the C.E.O. of A.I.G. and any other corporate leaders, they should start looking at themselves. They're not exactly innocent in all this mess, but they are sure quick to point the finger.

He has too many political favors and friends to pay off to change things. He ran as a reform candidate in the IL State Senate race and did not change anything. Look what he did when he got to the US Senate. He started in awarding several earmarks. No change here.

I think that you are right that the economy will be on life support. But no matter who is in office this will be the case. We didn't get to this place over night nor will be get out of it overnight. So anyone that is looking for a miracle thru one person is crazy.
