Do you know what we pay our president? I'm not going to give the answer...I'd like to hear what everyone think. If you have a resource to share...save till there are a few responses. This will help me with a research paper I am preparing for an ethics class. Thanks for responses!!

Here's something that you should include in your research paper for your ethics class, but that I'm sure you won't. Instead of: A)Posing your question and it's boundaries in a clearer manner at the outset. B)Thanking this board for it's participation and reposting your question (See A) on another board you acted in a completely unprofessional manner in your responses to some posters and had a temper tantrum reminiscent of my 7 year old grandson. Consider how you would be able to include a subsection on the ethics of responding to research participants who were kind enough to help you with your assignment and how you failed miserably. Follow that up with the reasons why you failed miserably (See A).

Thank you for your suggestions, I will keep them in mind. I thought I did post my question clearly. Snce I stated I would like to know what people knew, not what they could look up....and asked them to hold off on posting links. Did you see the ones that got deleted??? Obviously the mods here thought they were out of line as well.

tsallis, your idea is a good one...I will definitely keep it in mind:) That isn't the topic, and just to clear the air...it was after 2 am here when I started this discussion and began responding. SO I apologize for going off. I was just trying to get a feel for what the people knew, without giving any information links. My paper is on political officials salaries, and the research that has been done proving that less pay actually increases employee's motivation and loyalty to their company. The thesis is that if we cut officials pay, and use that money to reform our spending, our nation could make a turn around in a lot less time than any of the politician's current ideas.

Well edgy what I already knew is the exact same thing as what I looked up. I just posted references to back up the information that was already in my brain. Tell the truth edgy, i bet you are actually writing an ethics paper on how to purposely confuse participants, insult them when they cannot understand your contradictions, and then you document their responses to your insults. If i wasnt your papers topic before then it should be now (or you can at least use my idea for a future paper. lol) Peace.

The president makes $400,000 and I believe that he/she also has an expense account of $400,000, per year.

Last I heard it was around $400K but it may have been raised since then. Not a lot of money for the job but they make up for it with speaking engagements and books after their presiency. Not to forget the perks.

Well I was going to say around $300,000, but unfortunately people have already answered and posted links. I was also going to add that while that may not be the multimillion dollar salary that some CEOs get, the president doesn't really pay for anything like food, lodging, gas, etc. I remember the outcry during Clinton's presidency when Hillary went on an African safari on the taxpayer's dime. Somehow they never had to release how much that cost the taxpayers.

tsallis, the problem I have isn't the salary. Its the fact that taxpayers...whose average income is LESS than $39,000 PAY his wages...all the while risking foreclosure, getting their utilities shut off, and so on. That money would be much better spent to fix the un-leveled economy, rather than make one man rich... Difference between Mickey-D's employees, the people who got to their restaurant and buy their food CHOOSE to do so...taxpayers have no choice. CEO's of fortune five hundred companies, get paid by people who chose to buy their company's products and services, again taxpayers have no choice. And this particular position offers enough "petty cash" and fringe benefits, that a salary isn't even necessary to live off of. Did you know that many of our founding father's...you know those wise men who decided they cold build a better government than England's, they wanted the government officials to be volunteers. It was greedy money grubbers who wanted more for themselves that made sure that never happened.

Well when you become the president you can get some bonuses as well. Im pretty sure the "mulitmillion dollar salary that some CEOs get" is far more substantial then any of the bonuses that the president gets. So what if he doesnt pay for food, lodging (he is the President, he lives in the White House for Christs sake). If you work at mc donalds and make minimum wage dont complain cause the president makes a decent living. And for the hours of work he puts in and the stress of being responsible for the entire country i dont think 400,000 is enough. If i could make 400,000 thousand dollars per/year i would. But then again i would probably get grief from those who dont make that much and dont think i should either.

I have no idea. I only know that John Kennedy didn't take any pay at all when he was president.

The president of the United States of America makes 400,000 per/year. www.whitehouse.gov/president http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/President_of_the_United_States I dont actually think that amount is that much money. I mean it is the president and all. Some of those big shot bank CEOs made millions of dollars per/year. So if the Commander in Chief only makes 400,000 then i can accept that.

I wasn't asking because I didn't know. Thanks for ruining my case study experiment for a college paper. You should really learn how to read a post before you respond to it!!!!!!

You said that you were not going to answer, you never specifically asked to posters not to answer. Maybe you should clairify exactly what you mean before you post it. Boo hoo cry about spilled milk.

You posted "I'd like to know what everyone think" how are you going to know what i think if i dont tell you. Your question contradicts itself.
